Role description:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic AEJ Finance COO. This pivotal role will work closely with the CFO to drive finance strategy, manage change initiatives, and strengthen control & oversight and operational excellence across the finance function. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in finance, exceptional leadership and influencing skills, and the ability to navigate complex organizational structures. Responsibilities:
Finance Strategy and Transformation
  1. Define and Dive Transformation program for Finance
  2. Organisational Redesign, Operating Model Optimization
  3. Automation / Digitization of data and reporting
  4. Outsourcing Strategy
  5. AI implementation in finance
Change Management and Project Oversight
  1. Regional strategic legal entity optimization project
  2. Manage finance book of work and oversee project portfolios
  3. Track progress, establish accountability and timelines for initiatives
  4. Coordinate efforts within finance and across other functions (Risk, Operations, Business, Technology)
Process Improvement and Re-engineering
  1. Collaborating with functional leads to review and challenge existing processes
  2. Ensure efficiency and control in all finance processes
  3. Partner with technology teams for automation initiatives
Finance Control and Oversight
  1. Oversee the control framework for the entire finance function operational risk, RCSAs, and internal audit issue follow‑ups
  2. control heatmaps and escalation processes
  3. documentation of processes and controls
  4. Proactively assess and stress‑test the control environment
  5. Oversee and coordinate new business approval processes
  6. Business Continuity Management
Cross‑functional Collaboration
  1. Navigate complexities and manage conflicts within the finance department
  2. Act as a decisive referee in case of stalemate
Executive Communication and Reporting
  1. Assist CFO in preparing presentations and finance updates monthly communications to the broader finance team
  2. To senior regional management and headquarters and board meetings
Process Improvement and Re‑engineering
  1. Collaborate with functional leads to review and challenge existing processes
  2. Ensure efficiency and control in all finance processes
  3. Oversee process documentation efforts
  4. Partner with technology teams for automation initiatives
Budget Management & Cost Optimization
  1. Planning Budgeting (resources & projects); Cost management; Headcount management
  2. Identify & implement cost save opportunities
People Management and Development
  1. Serve as the main point of contact for HR Business Partners
  2. Conduct talent mapping in collaboration with the Finance Management Team
  3. Drive people engagement and communication strategy
Skills, experience, qualifications, and knowledge required:
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in technical finance roles (Product / Financial Control, Treasury etc.), with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position including in similar COO role in the financial industry
  • Experience leading large‑scale transformation projects relating to operating model redesign, outsourcing, process re‑engineering and digitization / automation
  • Experience with financial systems and technologies, including AI and automation tools
  • Leadership skills with ability to influence and collaborate across corporate support and business stakeholders at all levels
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to influence broader finance organization
  • Excellent executive presentation, storytelling, analytical and problem solving skills
