This is an exciting opportunity to join Illumina, which leverages the patented KREX technology for producing correctly folded, functionally validated proteins. KREX has become the gold standard technology for detecting any biomarker (autoantibodies, DNA or proteins) that interacts with a protein at exceptional sensitivity and specificity.

As the Director, Sales, APAC/ME Region, you will be responsible for the identification of business opportunities and expansion of client base in the Asia Pacific and Middle East Region with emphasis on Asia, Middle East, AUS and NZ regions. You will act as the primary contact, bridging the company and its customers and collaborators leveraging the KREX protein array technology for cancer, autoimmune, neurodegenerative and infectious disease research. You will manage a team of sales executives and field application specialists based in these regions.

Position Responsibilities
  • Execute and implement the company’s commercial strategies to drive business growth and increase the company’s valuation.
  • Establish, develop and maintain long-term working relationships with new and existing collaborators and customers in the region.
  • Develop strategic plans and proposals for winning new opportunities with a focus on large strategic long-term recurring opportunities.
  • Responsible for attainment of financial and strategic goals for the business within the geography in support of the company’s overall financial and strategic objectives.
  • Attend meetings with key customers, present seminars/webinars and participate in conferences and exhibitions.
  • Work closely with global and other regional counterparts on critical strategic matters and business issues such as competitive positioning, new product launches, new product/solutions investments and governance for ‘global’ customers that span regions
  • Develop strong working relationships with internal team members to develop successful long-term opportunities.
  • Provide sales application support activities for KREX technology and KREX-based products and services.
  • Identify, recruit, and retain top-notch talent that will drive the company's success, creating advancement opportunities and deepening a strong talent development culture that produces outstanding talent needed to sustain a growing enterprise. Ensure a leadership team reporting to him/her that can do the same to ensure we are cultivating the breadth and depth of leadership talent needed.
  • Build a high-performance culture; ensure the organization is built with scalability and operational excellence in mind.
  • Lead the team with utmost integrity, modeling professionalism and ethical business and personal conduct at all times to ensure a full company compliance culture and safeguard the interest of Illumina and its shareholders

Preferred Experience/Education/Skills
  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of related experience, with substantial Management experience.
  • Experience within the Life Science and/or Clinical diagnostics sales/sales management, preferably including capital equipment, consumables, and services.
  • Experience leading high-performance sales organizations of scale
  • Strong track record of consistent performance leading teams to achieve/exceed sales targets and drive growth. Results- and accountability-oriented mentality. Adept at breaking down large goals to manageable milestones and executing with predictability and effectiveness
  • Well-developed leadership skills, particularly of field-based, remote sales teams
  • Demonstrated experience working in team/matrixed environments
  • Broad knowledge of all areas within particular Corporate sub-function or a function within an operation.
  • Typically has depth of technical knowledge in function derived from experience in non-management and middle management roles. Requires high level understanding of markets and sales opportunities for the company’s products.
