Senior Manager / Director - Regulatory Compliance

About the Role

This position leads the regulatory compliance agenda for the region, overseeing all import, export, and trade governance obligations. As the regional authority in trade compliance, you will strengthen operational controls, advise senior stakeholders, and guide a distributed team. The role plays a critical part in shaping compliance strategy, ensuring the organization maintains high standards of integrity, risk management, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Lead regional compliance with import, export, customs, and U.S. re-export regulations, serving as the primary subject-matter expert for APJ.
  • Manage and develop a regional compliance team, ensuring accurate execution of regulatory processes, SLAs, and reporting.
  • Oversee product classification, valuation, country-of-origin determination, and compliance data integrity across ERP and operational systems.
  • Direct export licensing, re-export authorization activities, and compliance operations for APJ subsidiaries.
  • Conduct audits, respond to regulatory inquiries, identify compliance gaps, and drive corrective actions and process enhancements.
  • Partner with sales, logistics, product, and operations teams to embed compliance requirements and support risk‑aware commercial decision‑making.
Requirements
  • 5–8 years’ experience in international trade, import/export, and customs compliance, with 3–5 years in a supervisory or team leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of APAC trade regulations, U.S. re-export rules, export licensing, product classification, valuation, and country‑of‑origin requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage compliance operations, develop policies, lead audits, and oversee regulatory inquiries or investigations.
  • Skilled in working with cross‑functional teams (sales, logistics, product, procurement) to embed compliance into processes and transactions.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder‑management skills, with strong multicultural and interpersonal capabilities.
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, ethical, and able to work independently under pressure while leading and developing a regional team.
