Job summary

A consulting firm based in Singapore is seeking a developer for a 6-12 months contract. The role involves designing and implementing applications on the IBM AS400 platform using COBOL. Job description

6-12 months contract

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and implement applications on the IBM AS400 platform using COBOL and related tools.
• Collaborate with business analysts and system architects to understand business requirements and deliver solutions that meet user needs.
• Perform code reviews, optimization, and unit testing to ensure high-quality output.
• Provide Level 2/3 production support, including issue analysis, bug fixes, and system monitoring.
• Document technical specifications, deployment instructions, and operational procedures.
• Participate in release planning, deployment activities, and post-implementation reviews.

Requirements:

• Bachelors’ Degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on development experience with AS400 COBOL
• Strong understanding of AS400 tools such as SEU, SDA, PDM, CLP, CLLE, and DB2/400.
• Basic to intermediate experience in production support – troubleshooting, bug fixes, and responding to incidents.
• Good understanding of batch processing and job scheduling on AS400.
• Good to Have: Exposure to banking or financial services domain.
