The Singapore Environment Council (SEC) is looking for a strategic, high-impact Deputy Director/Senior Manager to lead our flagship initiatives in packaging waste reduction and circular economy. As a key leader within our Sustainability department, you will bridge the gap between national policy and industry innovation, driving systemic change across Singapore’s packaging value chain.

The Opportunity

In this pivotal role, you won't just talk about sustainability—you will build the frameworks that make it possible. Reporting to the Director of Sustainability, you will lead a multidisciplinary team to influence how packaging is designed, used, and recovered in Singapore.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Lead the development and delivery of large-scale sustainability programmes focused on packaging design, reduction, and circularity.
  • Policy Advocacy: Conduct high-level research on international best practices to develop policy recommendations and position papers for government and industry partners.
  • Stakeholder Synergy: Build and maintain influential partnerships with packaging producers, brand owners, retailers, and trade associations to align industry action with national waste goals.
  • Innovation & Frameworks: Oversee pilot initiatives and develop technical toolkits, including life-cycle assessments and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) frameworks.
What We Are Looking For
  • Proven Impact: You have at least 5 to 10 years of relevant experience, with a significant portion dedicated to advocating for sustainable packaging within an NGO or public-interest environment.
  • Technical Authority: You possess a deep understanding of packaging life-cycle management, circular economy principles, and environmental legislation like the Resource Sustainability Act.
  • Collaborative Influencer: You have a track record of engaging with government agencies, statutory boards, and trade associations to drive cross-sector solutions.
  • Academic Foundation: A Degree in Environmental Engineering, Science, Public Policy, or Sustainability is required.
  • Mission-Driven: You are genuinely passionate about driving collaborative solutions for a greener, zero-waste future.
