Job summary

Job description

The Telecoms Engineer supports the design and on-site delivery of telecom systems for large data centre projects. You’ll work closely with local and international teams to make sure telecom infrastructure is properly designed, correctly installed, and ready for operations.

Job Responsibilities:

Design & Planning

• Prepare and review telecom designs, drawings, and technical documents

• Plan equipment layouts, cable routes, and system designs

• Work with architects, electrical, mechanical, and IT teams to ensure designs fit together smoothly

• Ensure designs meet industry standards and local regulations

• Support design reviews, technical discussions, and value engineering exercises

• Maintain consistent design quality from early concept through construction

Site & Delivery

• Inspect site installations (cabling, fibre, racks, patch panels) to ensure they follow approved designs

• Review shop drawings and as‑built drawings for accuracy

• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and design teams to resolve technical issues

• Support testing and commissioning of telecom systems

• Track site progress and highlight risks or delays early

• Ensure health, safety, and environmental standards are followed on site

• Work closely with international telecom design teams when needed

Requirements:

• Degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field

• At least 5 years’ experience in telecom design and site delivery

• Strong understanding of structured cabling, fibre optics, and network systems

• Able to read and understand technical drawings and specifications

• Familiar with AutoCAD / Revit and telecom design tools

• Good communication skills and able to work with multiple stakeholders

• Experience with data centres (hyperscale or colocation preferred)

• Certifications such as BICSI RCDD, CCNA, or similar
