Job summary

Job Title: Data Centre Operations Engineer

12 hrs shift (day and night)
Job Summary

The Data Centre Operations Engineer will be responsible for supporting Data Centre Operations Management Services for the Company and/or In‑Scope Institutions. This role includes managing data centre facilities, monitoring environmental conditions, ensuring physical security, and maintaining asset and backup media management.

Key Responsibilities

1. Facility Management:

  • Monitor and manage data centre infrastructure including power, cooling, cabling, fire detection, and suppression systems.
  • Ensure cleanliness and tidiness of the data centre, reporting any abnormalities or rule violations.
  • Support maintenance, servicing, repair, and upgrading activities related to data centre facilities infrastructure.

2. Physical Access Control:

  • Manage physical access to data centres and racks, ensuring compliance with security policies.
  • Maintain physical key management and track access records.
  • Monitor and report any suspicious activities or security violations.

3. Asset Management:

  • Track and document all data centre assets throughout their lifecycle.
  • Ensure secure storage of assets, including backup media and storage devices.
  • Support asset audits, verification, and disposal processes.

4. Backup Media Management:

  • Coordinate with suppliers for off‑site storage and retrieval of backup media.
  • Track inventory of backup media and handle faulty or damaged media.
  • Provide monthly reports on backup media inventory.

5. Incident and Problem Management:

  • Respond to and escalate incidents according to severity levels, providing regular updates until resolution.
  • Perform routine physical inspections and document findings.
  • Support service recovery and incident resolution efforts.

6. Compliance and Audit:

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, security standards, and audit requirements.
  • Provide support for audits and implement rectification plans for any noncompliance findings.
Qualifications
  • Education: Diploma in Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in data centre operations, including incident and vendor management.
  • Certifications:
    • Data Centre Foundation (DCFC) or equivalent certification preferred.
    • ITIL v3 Foundation Certification.
  • Skills:
    • Strong technical knowledge of data centre infrastructure and operations.
    • Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions
  • Ability to work on different shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • On standby and contactable 24/7 for support and escalation.
