Description of the Position

The Civil Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, overseeing construction and maintenance of building structures, infrastructure, and public works projects. This role involves conducting technical analyses, preparing detailed plans, ensuring compliance with regulations, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient, and sustainable engineering solutions.

He is preferably a trained engineer and can address technical queries that arise during his duties. He is conversant with the industry, company clientele, competitors and contractors. He possesses analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder management skills to resolve issues that arise in the course of work. He may be expected to travel occasionally and work after office hours.

Responsibilities

• To plan, execute, manage construction and infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, buildings, airports, and drainage systems.
• To conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, surveys, and environmental impact assessments.
• To analyze engineering drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and project schedules.
• To review project designs and ensure compliance with engineering standards, building codes, and safety regulations.
• To oversee construction activities, including quality control, adherence to design specifications, and resolving site issues.
• To collaborate with architects, contractors, clients, and government agencies throughout the project life cycle.
• Use Civil Engineering software such as AutoCAD and other design and analysis tools, if needed.
• To monitor project progress, budgets and timelines, and prepare technical reports and documentation.
• To ensure all work meets sustainability, safety and environmental standards.
• To manage risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
