Overview

The Business Data Analyst in Application Development is a member of the IT Data & Analytics team. This role involves participating in the design, development, and support of business applications. The individual will collaborate closely with business users and the technical team to carry out tasks assigned by the Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and support business applications and solutions to satisfy the needs of various organisational groups.
  • Ensure that design solutions align with the Business Process Blueprint.
  • Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), which includes developing code, testing, and deployment.
  • Create necessary stored procedures and SQL queries.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional ERP and non-ERP teams, as well as business users, for project requirements and post-implementation support.
  • Assess and suggest enhancements to continuously improve functionality, performance, reliability, and usability.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in programming and business application development, with at least two complete SDLC projects using Microsoft technologies.
  • A recognised degree in information technology, computer science, or substantial relevant experience in a commercial environment.
  • Proficiency in developing web and desktop applications using Microsoft technologies (MVC4, .NET, C#, C++), web services, and API/REST.
  • Expertise in creating complex MS SQL database queries and stored procedures.
  • Familiarity with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, XML, AngularJS, and Crystal Reports.
  • Experience interacting with all levels of the business, from end-users to senior management, in a complex stakeholder environment, and the ability to present ideas and recommendations in an accessible manner.
  • Background in ERP and knowledge of tools like SSRS, SSIS, K2, and Java is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Capable of mentoring and coaching others by sharing knowledge and experiences.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess problems from both business and technical perspectives.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities, with skills in evaluating and re-engineering processes and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Competence in prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
