Job description:

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Assistant Director will assist to lead, develop and implement strategic plans, and provide operational oversight of the hospital's Total Workplace Safety and Health (TWSH) management system, to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for the hospital workforce.

In addition, The Assistant Director will oversee the operations in the Occupational Health Clinic (OHC), so as to provide seamless service to internal stakeholders, and ensure the safety, health and wellbeing of our workforce.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director in identifying, monitoring, communicating and reviewing the Department's performance/outcome indicators, ensuring the department or hospital's goals are met effectively and efficiently.
  • Plan and review the resource (i.e. manpower and financial) allocation strategically to meet competing objectives.
  • Develop and Implement the TWSH Framework, with a stronger focus on Occupational Health and Staff Protection
  • Lead the Secretariat for Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Council and Occupational Health (OH) Committee
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of new TWSH projects or programmes, from conceptualisation to execution.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of TWSH programmes and drive continuous improvement in the programme to ensure overall objectives are met.
  • Oversee the operations in the Occupational Health Clinic, to provide seamless service to internal stakeholders and ensure the safety, health and well-being of hospital staff.
  • Oversee the operations of the Staff Protection Office, focusing on preventing and managing staff abuse or harassment by external perpetrators (e.g. post-incident management and preventive measures such as training and education etc)
  • Lead and undertake any hospital projects assigned.
  • Participate in emergency planning exercise and render support in any hospital emergency or incidents when required.
  • Assist to carry out any other duties as assigned by Reporting Officer.

Job Requirements

  • Good Bachelor's degree and above. Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) - related Degree and above would be preferred.
  • At least 7-10 years of relevant working experience with at least 5 years of supervisory experience, preferably in healthcare industry.
  • Experience with practical aspects of hospital operations, Workplace Safety and Health. Experience in Occupational Health is an advantage.
  • Good communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus among diverse stakeholders.
  • Critical and strategic thinker who is analytical, meticulous, process-oriented and capable of translating organisational goals into actionable strategies and plans.
  • Good leadership skills, with track records of leading teams to achieve ambitious goals and objectives.
  • Good organizational, coordination and project management skills.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, manage pressure, multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • MOM Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) is an advantage.
