About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Associate Director or Director of Payment Partnerships to drive BTSE’s expansion of global fiat on- and off-ramp capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong network of trusted payment partners, including card acquirers, banks, EMIs, PSPs, and alternative payment providers (APMs), along with a deep understanding of the commercial, regulatory, and technical requirements that support payment operations within a regulated crypto exchange environment.

You will play a key role in building and scaling global payment corridors, enabling users to buy and sell crypto seamlessly through cards, bank transfers, and localized APMs, while ensuring secure, compliant, and efficient settlement flows.

Responsibilities
  • Vendor Sourcing & Relationship Management: Identify, evaluate, and onboard payment partners (card acquirers, banks, EMIs, and APMs) across key jurisdictions.
  • Commercial Negotiation: Negotiate pricing, transaction fees, settlement terms, reserves, and SLAs based on industry benchmarks and business needs.
  • Integration Enablement: Work with internal product and tech teams to ensure smooth technical integration of payment solutions into the crypto exchange platform.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor transaction performance, success rates, and partner SLAs to continuously optimize payment flows and reduce friction for users.
  • Regulatory & Compliance Alignment: Ensure all payment partners meet local and global compliance standards (AML, KYC, sanctions, and data privacy).
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in payments partnerships and relationship management.
  • Proven network of reputable payment vendors and financial institutions experienced in serving fintech or crypto clients.
  • Strong understanding of card acquiring, settlement flows, chargebacks, and alternative payment methods.
  • Commercial acumen with experience structuring and negotiating complex partnership agreements.
  • Familiarity with crypto-fiat payment challenges, including risk, compliance, and cross-border settlements.
Nice to have
  • Prior experience at or with regulated exchanges, PSPs, EMIs, or payment gateways serving crypto clients.
  • Knowledge of MiCA, VARA, or equivalent frameworks is a plus.
  • Experience optimizing payment performance using data-driven metrics or transaction analytics tools.
