Job summary

What will I be doing?

As Assistant Director of Engineering, you would be responsible for assisting the Director of Engineering (DoE) in overseeing the functionality and safety of the facility to protect the well‑being of all guests and team members in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks but not limited to, to the highest standards:

  • Supervises Senior Maintenance Officers, Maintenance Officers, Assistant Maintenance Officers, Senior Technicians, Technicians, Junior Technicians, and Handyman/Craftsman and/or as designated by the Director of Engineering and Hotel Manager/General Manager.
  • Assist in directing and overseeing the functionality and safety of the facility, including, but not limited to, physical buildings, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, heating and cooling systems, life safety systems and grounds according to local regulations and/or Hilton standards.
  • Conduct facility inspections and direct general construction and the installation, maintenance and repair of all electrical, mechanical and architectural systems throughout the facility to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
  • Assign, verify and document completion of all routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Communicates as required with consultants and/or local authorities to ensure the proper maintenance of permits and licenses, to coordinate required inspections and to ensure full compliance with codes, regulations and safety standards.
  • Assists in the execution of capital projects and property rehabilitations.
  • Assist in monitoring and developing team member performance to include, but not limited to, providing supervision, scheduling, conducting counseling and evaluations, providing professional development and delivering recognition and reward.
  • Assist Director of Engineering in recruitment, interviewing and training of team members.
  • Leads special projects, as needed.
  • To source, prepare contract document and directly involve with control and supervising of refurbishing contractor or any contractor who may be appointed from time to time.
  • Liaise with appointed maintenance contractors, architects, mechanical and electrical consultants and any other professionals.
  • To develop and implement cost reduction, work simplification methods and techniques and improvement programs.
  • To attend weekly maintenance meetings with the Director of Engineering.
  • Champion ESG within the property. Effectively drive and implement energy reduction projects within the property.
  • Preparation of monthly report of utilities and energy conservation and communicate any discrepancies to Director of Engineering.
  • To liaise with and be kept informed at all times of current event falling within the scope, with the Director of Engineering.
  • To perform duties of safety and fire operation drill when and where the need arises.
  • Respond promptly and positively to all guest requests, even if it does not directly concern the department or job scope.
  • Assist Director of Engineering in preparing monthly operational and expenses report.
  • Preparations of budget for Repair & Maintenance expenses, Utilities and Capital expenditures. Analyze the expenses trend and do forecasting to keep expenses within budget.
  • Processing of engineering purchase requisition and manage the purchase requisitions, in terms of cycle, sourcing, price negotiation and stock control.
  • To review store inventory and requisition and control of stock in engineering store.
  • Ensure proper documentations for SOPs to be updated and submitted to Regional Director of Engineering when needed.
  • To carry out any work as directed by the Director of Engineering.
  • Acts in absence of the Director.
  • To carry out any assignment as and when required by the management.
