This role involves developing and optimizing clinical diagnostic tests utilizing molecular technology and requires a diploma or degree in biology or a related field, preferably with experience in RT-qPCR or molecular biology research. Job Summary

MiRXES Lab seeks a Research Officer to join our Technology Development team, whose focus is to translate our research into robust clinical diagnostic assays.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Development and optimization of clinical diagnostic tests based on molecular technology e.g. RT-PCR, isothermal amplification, NGS (~90% wet lab time)
  • Specific applications of molecular technology in miRNA, DNA methylation, mutations as well as pathogens of interest e.g. EBV, HPV
  • Explore new technologies to meet/exceed current clinical requirements on diagnostics tests.
  • Problem-solve using technical product knowledge and design of experiments.
  • Assisting in design and execution of experiments.
  • Troubleshooting, analysing data, interpreting results critically, and keeping a detailed record of experiments.
  • Actively providing scientific input in both multifunctional and R&D team meetings.
  • Work closely with other Scientists, Engineering, and Commercial colleagues on projects to provide scientific inputs related to company products or research.
  • Participate in experimental design, troubleshooting and new technology development.
Desired Skills & Competencies
  • Diploma/BSc or equivalent in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or related field.
  • The following are preferred:
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in RT-qPCR and/or molecular biology research.
  • Candidates with a strong academic portfolio are invited to apply in lieu of working experience.
  • Fluency in molecular detection methodologies.
  • Assay design and development in oncology-related areas is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of basic regulatory issues.
  • A meticulous, ‘hands‑on’ person who welcomes challenges, works independently or as part of a team, and can communicate effectively at all levels.
