Responsibilities

  • To provide OH&S advice / guidance / coaching to the plant team using different approaches (direct and support them to implement and comply with all OH&S requirements in a sustainable manner.
  • To assist the OH&S Manager in the implementation, development and monitoring of the OH&S policies and procedures.
  • Complete regular checks and inspections and prepare related reports.
  • Conducts behavioral safety observations and provide support to develop site BS program.
  • Conduct periodical checks on the plant clinic and prepare evaluation and feedback reports.
  • Co-ordinate the implementation or conduct OH&S trainings as identified by OH&S manager.
  • Continually develops effective communication media for communication at all levels of the business through weekly bulletin and notice boards.
  • Generate drivers’ behavior evaluation reports and communicate and follow up in timely manner.
  • Distribute, check and arrange for the periodical fire extinguishers inspection and maintenance.
  • Monitor compliance on the shop floor of the PPEs, KSBs, and SWPs and ensure addressing the immediate required actions to correct situation and escalate when / if needed.
  • Update safety logs / registers and file and control of all safety records.
  • Check and update all OH&S communication means (monitors, Near Miss (NM) boards, signs, boards…etc.) and report / fix any in-correct situation (damage, outdate, missing form….etc.).
  • Active participation in the risk assessments, accident investigations, communication, planning, Reward and Recognition (R&R), Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan (EPRP), monitoring, inspections and audits as assigned by the OH&S MS or the OH&S Manager.
  • Follow up with plant departments to ensure OH&S reports are done in due time including NM reports.
  • Follow up with all plant departments on the completion of Corrective / Preventive Actions (C / PA) completion and provide support where necessary.
  • Recognize and embrace positive behaviors and practices.
  • Carry out monthly audits on Accident Investigation, to ensure FLM receive feedback to ensure standards maintained by FLM team to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Assertive, firm, persistent and resilient, with excellent communication at all levels of the organization. H&S specialist should be able to communicate clearly and confidently on 1 : 1, in writing and presenting in group situations and able to put message across to wide ranging audience.
  • Strong and Confident team player with interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills and able to adapt to different audiences.
  • Strong influencing skills with the ability to manage in all directions and is comfortable dealing with difficult discussions and situations.
  • A self-motivated person with the ability to identify, initiate and implement corrective actions.
  • Apply strong analytical skills, flexible thinking and problem solving in a systematic manner and able to collect, present and interpret data.
  • Ability to influence behavior of peers / FLEs without direct reporting relationship.
  • Excellent command of English language and literacy in computer usage.
  • Ability to coach and support others to ensure requirements understood / met.
