Job summary

Libera Consultants seeks an experienced Well Placement Engineer to support geosteering technology delivery across Oman and Saudi Arabia. The role blends technical well placement with commercial growth, advising rig and customer teams in real time.

The incumbent will act as the regional technical focal point for geosteering, support adoption, and help expand technology deployment, potentially mentoring a growing team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Geoscience or related technical discipline.
• Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in Oil & Gas / Oilfield Services.
• Strong experience in Well Placement, Geosteering and Directional Drilling operations.
• Experience with customer-facing roles and commercial/tech-promo capability is desirable.
• Open to senior Well Placement Engineers aiming for leadership

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and guidance on real-time well placement and geosteering activities.
• Work closely with rig-site and customer teams to deliver effective well placement solutions.
• Act as the technical focal point for geosteering technology across the assigned region.
• Support the implementation, integration and adoption of the technology across customer operations.
• Advise customers on well trajectory, reservoir navigation and real-time drilling data interpretation.
• Build strong client relationships and identify opportunities to expand technology deployment.
• Deliver technical presentations and support client meetings, opportunity development and business development activity.
• Collaborate with internal product, technical and commercial teams to ensure solutions meet market needs.
• Support the ongoing development of the regional well placement offering.
• Progress into mentoring, developing and leading a small team of Well Placement Engineers as the business expands

Job description

We are conducting a search on behalf of major Oilfield Service Company for an experienced Well Placement Engineer – to support the delivery, adoption and commercial growth of geosteering technology across Oman and Saudi Arabia.

Role Overview:

This is a dual technical and commercial role for a well placement professional who can advise rig and customer teams in real time, while also helping to introduce and grow the company’s geosteering technology in the market.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical support and guidance on real-time well placement and geosteering activities
• Work closely with rig-site and customer teams to deliver effective well placement solutions

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Geoscience or a related technical discipline is preferred
• Minimum 12 years’ relevant experience within Oil & Gas / Oilfield Services
• Strong experience in Well Placement, Geosteering and Directional Drilling operations
• Strong understanding of well trajectory planning, reservoir navigation and real-time drilling/geological data
• Experience with major Oilfield Services companies is highly preferred;
• Proven experience working directly with customers, drilling teams and operational stakeholders
• Experience in a commercial, client-development or technology-promotion capacity is highly desirable
• Open to established Domain Champions or senior Well Placement Engineers with the ambition to move into a leadership role

• Commercial mindset, with the ability to identify and develop business opportunities
• Strong stakeholder-management and relationship-building capability

• Arabic language skills are advantageous but not essential
