Role Context

The Survey Engineer will establish and verify the spatial information that engineering and construction teams depend on for accurate project execution. Field measurements must be collected systematically, checked against project controls, and converted into dependable technical information for design and construction activities. Accuracy is central to the position. Errors in coordinates, elevations, boundaries, or setting-out information can affect downstream construction activities, making disciplined field procedures and rigorous data verification essential. The role combines practical site surveying with digital data processing and technical documentation. Close coordination with engineers, project managers, and construction teams will ensure survey requirements are understood early and that reliable information is available when critical site decisions are made.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct land and construction surveys according to project requirements and approved procedures.
  • Operate total stations for precise measurement and construction surveying activities.
  • Use GPS receivers to collect and verify geospatial coordinates.
  • Perform field measurements using theodolites, laser levels, and other surveying equipment.
  • Establish survey control points, reference coordinates, and elevation benchmarks where required.
  • Collect accurate field information for engineering and construction activities.
  • Process raw survey observations and convert them into usable project data.
  • Analyze coordinates, elevations, distances, angles, and other field measurements.
  • Produce accurate site maps, survey plans, and technical drawings.
  • Use AutoCAD to prepare and revise survey documentation.
  • Develop survey drawings and terrain information using Civil 3D.
  • Incorporate verified survey information into current project plans.
  • Coordinate survey requirements with project managers and engineering teams.
  • Work with construction personnel to establish required site measurements and controls.
  • Interpret drawings and specifications before undertaking field survey activities.
  • Verify construction locations, dimensions, and levels against approved project information.
  • Perform quality control checks on field observations and processed survey data.
  • Identify measurement discrepancies and investigate their causes before issuing results.
  • Maintain appropriate accuracy and completeness throughout survey workflows.
  • Prepare detailed survey reports for technical and project records.
  • Maintain organized field notes, measurement records, calculations, and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure survey records remain traceable for future verification and project audits.
  • Communicate survey findings clearly to engineers and other project stakeholders.
  • Highlight field conditions that could affect design or construction activities.
  • Recommend practical solutions when survey constraints or discrepancies are identified.
  • Assist with surveying equipment setup, calibration, and operational checks.
  • Verify equipment condition before critical measurement activities.
  • Support proper handling and maintenance of precision survey instruments.
  • Apply relevant surveying standards, protocols, and accepted industry practices.
  • Support compliance with Saudi Arabian construction requirements and local surveying regulations.
  • Use GIS software where required to support spatial analysis and project information.
  • Contribute to drone and UAV-based surveying workflows where such technology is deployed.
  • Coordinate field activities efficiently to support construction schedules and project deadlines.
  • Adapt survey plans when site access, sequencing, or construction conditions change.
  • Provide reliable survey information for project progress verification and technical decision-making.
Ideal Profile

Ideal Profile Candidates should have proven professional experience in land surveying, construction surveying, engineering surveying, or a closely related discipline. Strong practical capability with total stations, GPS equipment, theodolits, laser levels, and other precision surveying instruments is essential. The successful candidate should understand both field measurement procedures and the technical principles behind survey accuracy. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D is required for processing survey information and producing professional plans and drawings. Experience using GIS applications will be advantageous. Candidates must be able to collect, analyze, interpret, and verify survey data methodically. Strong attention to detail is particularly important because survey information may directly control construction positioning, dimensions, and elevations. Knowledge of surveying standards, field protocols, documentation requirements, and quality control practices is expected. Familiarity with Saudi Arabian construction standards and local surveying regulations is preferred. Experience with drone or UAV surveying technology will provide additional value, particularly for larger sites and digital data collection workflows. The role requires good organization, technical report writing, and time management skills together with the ability to operate effectively in field conditions. Strong communication and teamwork are necessary for coordinating survey activities with engineering and construction personnel.
