Job summary

Bechtel Corporation is seeking a site-based role on a major project in Saudi Arabia to monitor and organize subcontractor planning, safety, quality and technical activities. You will coordinate and instruct subcontractor management staff to align with schedules and ensure work is performed safely.

Your supervision will cover structural steel, mechanical equipment, piping, HVAC, and crane activities, with a strong emphasis on quality, safety, and coordination across multiple teams.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) required.
  • 8–10 years of relevant experience or 12–14 years of relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise structural steel, mechanical equipment, piping, HVAC, and crane installation activities.
  • Supervise structural steel erection activities, including reception, laydown, pre-assembly, erection sequencing, stability, survey verification, and installation of components.
  • Lead installation, alignment, and commissioning support of static and rotating mechanical equipment (crushers, mills, conveyors, pumps, etc.).
  • Supervise piping installation activities with material control, spool installation, supports, valves, and testing.
  • Coordinate and supervise heavy lifting, rigging, and erection operations with cranes and other systems.
  • Support installation, testing, balancing, and commissioning of HVAC systems.
  • Ensure preservation and integrity of materials during storage and installation.
  • Ensure compliance with project quality requirements and turnover documentation.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, QA/QC, Survey, HSE, Procurement, and Commissioning teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Monitor construction performance and productivity, including manpower, equipment and look-ahead schedules.
  • Conduct field inspections and ensure ES&H requirements are met (PTW, LOTO, working at height, confined space).
  • Maintain accurate construction records and reporting.

Project Overview:

The Ar Rjum Project comprises a green field gold project with three open pit mining operations with associated waste dumps and ore stockpile, a processing plant, tailings management facilities, and supporting infrastructure including water supply, power supply, maintenance facilities, offices, temporary and permanent accommodation village.

The Project is situated within the Central Arabian Gold Region, approximately 200 km north-east of Taif towards Riyadh and about 26 km South of Al Mouwayh, which is a small town situated on the Jeddah - Riyadh highway.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will monitor and organize subcontractor planning, safety, quality, and technical activities on a complex project with multiple stakeholders’ involvement, through the coordination and instruction of subcontractor’s management staff. Your field supervision will help ensure operations are planned to coincide with overall established schedules and that work methods are planned and executed safely.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Lead and supervise structural steel, mechanical equipment, piping, HVAC, and crane installation activities in accordance with project specifications, approved drawings, applicable codes and standards, ITPs, method statements, and approved construction procedures.

  • Supervise structural steel erection activities , including receiving, laydown, pre-assembly, erection sequencing, temporary stability, survey verification, and final installation of columns, beams, bracing, platforms, stairs, handrails, pipe racks, equipment support structures, and associated secondary steel, ensuring compliance with dimensional and quality requirements.

  • Lead installation, alignment, and commissioning support of static and rotating mechanical equipment , including crushers, SAG mills, ball mills, conveyors, screens, feeders, pumps, compressors, blowers, fans, gearboxes, filters, pressure vessels, and other mining and process plant equipment, ensuring compliance with OEM requirements and approved procedures.

  • Supervise piping installation activities , including material control, spool installation, fit-up, supports, valves, specialty items, flange management, tie-ins, field welding, testing, flushing, cleaning, reinstatement, and turnover readiness, ensuring compliance with approved isometrics, P&IDs, specifications, and applicable codes.

  • Coordinate and supervise heavy lifting, rigging, and erection operations , including the use of crawler cranes, mobile cranes, strand jacks, hydraulic gantries, SPMTs, tower cranes, overhead cranes, hoists, monorails, and other specialized lifting systems in accordance with approved lift plans and construction sequencing.

  • Support installation, testing, balancing, and commissioning of HVAC systems , including AHUs, FCUs, ventilation systems, ductwork, chilled water piping, dampers, louvers, and associated mechanical equipment.

  • Ensure preservation, protection, and integrity of structural steel, mechanical equipment, piping materials, and installed systems during storage, installation, construction, and pre-commissioning activities.

  • Ensure compliance with project quality requirements , including inspection and test plans, hold and witness points, welding and NDE requirements, NCR resolution, punch list management, turnover documentation, and final acceptance activities.

  • Coordinate with Engineering, QA/QC, Survey, HSE, Procurement, Materials, Vendors, Subcontractors, and Commissioning teams to resolve technical issues, manage interfaces, maintain work-front availability, and achieve construction milestones.

  • Monitor construction performance and productivity , including manpower, equipment utilization, material availability, installation sequencing, progress measurement, and development of short-term construction plans and look-ahead schedules.

  • Conduct field inspections and ensure implementation of ES&H requirements , including Permit-to-Work, lifting procedures, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), work-at-height, confined-space entry requirements, and company safe work practices.

  • Maintain accurate construction records and reporting , including daily progress, manpower and equipment utilization, installed quantities, inspection and testing status, field constraints, subcontractor performance, and turnover readiness.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires Mechanical bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Ability to perform extensive field inspections within active construction environments.

  • Capable of walking long distances, climbing ladders and scaffolding, working at heights, and accessing confined spaces as required for inspection and construction activities.

  • Ability to work in hot and humid climatic conditions typical of Middle East construction projects.

  • Must be capable of using all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) associated with assigned construction activities.
