Job summary

Deutsche Post invites applications for a Shipment Control Officer to support security operations in Jeddah. The role focuses on protecting shipments, conducting investigations, and maintaining incident records to prevent losses.

You will work with the regional Security Manager to ensure regulatory compliance and effective incident handling. The ideal candidate has a diploma or degree, training in fire safety, and experience with investigations, CCTV, and security protocols.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree required; college level preferred.
• Experience in investigations and security incidents.
• Fire safety training and first aid knowledge.
• Courier industry background desirable.
• GACA X-ray training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Uphold security policies to protect shipments, assets, and customers.
• Implement Aviation Security processes to meet regulatory requirements.
• Investigate security incidents (loss/theft) and prepare reports with recommendations.
• Maintain Security Incidents Database and generate trend reports.
• Liaise with Security Manager and participate in internal audits (TAPA/GAP).
• Maintain security equipment (CCTV, access control, alarms, X-ray, fire systems).
• Organize on-route courier checks to ensure compliance with Vehicle Security Policy.
• Assist in route surveys for high-value shipments.
• Conduct fire evacuation drills and document actions.
• Produce monthly reports of security incidents and investigations.
• Cooperate with local authorities for information sharing.
• Monitor and manage shipment exceptions and recoveries.
• Collect evidence and determine root causes for incidents.
• Apply hold on shipments when required.
• Escalate to Ops/CS/Security/IT/Customs as needed.

Overall Role Purpose

• Shipment Control Officer (SCO) will be responsible to implement and monitor policy, procedures and Security Practices. To ensure compliance to GACA Procedures.


• Responsible for the timely investigation into shipments losses and incidents relating to DHL assets, personnel and shipments.


• Administration of Security Incidents database and generating reports.

Your Tasks:

• Upholding effective security policies and procedures to ensure that DHL employee, assets and customers shipments are protected.


• Ensures effective implementation of Aviation Security processes and procedures to ensure compliance to Regulatory requirements.


• Conducts investigations into security incidents e.g. loss/theft of shipments, company assets, and criminal acts against property or personnel. Prepare reports with cost effective recommendations and ensures implementation after consultation with National Security Manager (NSM).


• Maintains the Security Incidents Database for all security incidents, in his area and generates reports to monitor the growing trends, suggest corrective actions and ensure implementation after consultation with the PSM.


• Maintains the facilities in his area of responsibility and assists the Security Manager in internal TAPA Audits to identify gaps and implementation of corrective actions.


• Maintains the security equipment in good working condition and liaises with the vendors to ensure timely preventive maintenance of CCTV, Access control, intruding alarms, X-ray Machines and fire detection /prevention systems


• Assist in effective implementation of DS process (destroy shpt process) as per the GSOP guidelines and maintain records with pictures.


• Carries out quarterly access reviews to ensure that access records are up to date. Records are deleted for the staff that have left the company and to ensure that access is granted on need to enter basis. Frequent backup of the database must be obtained to help in case of unexpected system crash.


• To organize on-route Courier checks to ensure that staffs are complying to DHL Vehicle Security Policy.


• Assist the PSM in carrying out route surveys for the transportation of high value shipments for the customers receiving /sending high value desirable goods.


• Able to carry out fire evacuation drill (twice a year), observations must be recorded and corrective actions implemented.


• Produces monthly reports of security related incidents and the subsequent investigations to Security Manager.


• Maintains close liaison with local authorities to obtain assistance when needed and to exchange information in accordance with company policy.


• Monitor and manage shipment exceptions (no-scan, misroute, shortage/overage, damage, holds, service risk).


• Trace and investigate shipments using the CCTV and coordinate with Ops to locate and recover (re-route, re-scan, rebuild, expedite).


• Investigate shipment issues: collect evidence (scans, weights, photos, handover records) and identify the root cause.


• Apply HOLD and secure shipments when required.


• Escalate to Ops/CS/Security/DG/IT/Customs based on the case type and risk level.


• Maintain case documentation and close with outcome and corrective action.

Your Profile:

• Preferably a college diploma or degree


• Trained in fire safety.


• Diploma in health and safety.(First aid)


• Experience in Investigations.


• Courier industry Background.


• Trained on X-raying from GACA ( Preferably )
