Job summary

SGS is seeking an experienced Safety Consultant with strong Process Safety expertise to join our team in Saudi Arabia. The role focuses on delivering practical, risk-based safety solutions across high-hazard industrial operations, with a strong emphasis on PSM, MAH risk management and safety performance improvement.

The ideal candidate will bring deep HSE experience, hands-on capability in HAZOP/HAZID and related risk assessments, plus excellent communication to advise clients and project teams.

Qualifications

• Degree or relevant qualification in Engineering, HSE, Process Safety or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in HSE / Process Safety, preferably within oil & gas, petrochemical, energy, chemical or other high-hazard industries.
• Strong practical knowledge of PSM principles and risk assessment methodologies.
• Experience with HAZOP/HAZID, LOPA, Bow-Tie and process safety studies.
• Strong communication, consulting and stakeholder-management skills.
• Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, CSP, CFSE, TÜV Functional Safety or equivalent are an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support Process Safety Management (PSM) activities.
• Facilitate HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA and Bow-Tie studies.
• Conduct process safety and HSE risk assessments.
• Support Major Accident Hazard (MAH) risk management.
• Develop and review safety management systems and procedures.
• Conduct process safety audits, gap assessments and compliance reviews.
• Support Management of Change (MOC) and operational risk management.
• Lead or support incident investigations and root cause analysis.
• Develop safety performance indicators and assurance programs.
• Provide technical safety advice to clients and project teams.
• Deliver safety training, coaching and competency development.
