Job summary

Penspen, a global energy services company, is seeking a Senior Instruments & Control Engineer to lead instrumentation deliverables in Al Khobar, KSA. The role requires extensive DCS experience and a strong background in ISA/IEC standards for major oil and gas projects.

The candidate will review instrument datasheets, I/O lists, loop diagrams, and control narratives, ensuring proper integration with field instruments and safety systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering with specialization in instrumentation and control.
• Minimum 12 years of experience with 6+ years in instrument and control engineering for major Oil & Gas/Petrochemical projects.
• DCS experience is required and experience with validation, FAT, and vendor submittals is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee instrumentation and control engineering deliverables by the EPC contractor to meet project requirements and standards (ISA, IEC).
• Review instrument datasheets, I/O lists, loop diagrams, and control logic narratives.
• Validate integration between control systems (DCS, ESD, F&G) and field instruments.
• Evaluate vendor submittals, FAT procedures, and technical deviations.
• Participate in design reviews and ensure operability and maintainability of control systems.
• Support field verification, loop checks, and commissioning activities; ensure compliance with HSE and project standards.

Job Description

Required Experience Criteria in years

Twelve (12) years of experience; Six (6) years of them within the field of Instrumentation & Control Engineering for major Oil and Gas/Petrochemical projects. DCS experience required.

Minimum Education Qualification Required

Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation & Control Engineering/Electrical/Electronic or Mechanical Engineering.

The job location will be based on Saudi Arabia - Alkhobar.
