Job Purpose:
  • This supervisory role involves working within a 24/7 shift system to lead a team, assist with vessel berthing, and support marina operations. Strong communication, presentation, and reporting skills are essential, along with the ability to work night shifts.
  • The position requires clear communication, initiative, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Responsibilities include leading dockside assistance for guest movements, assigning visitor berths independently, and responding to emergencies to ensure the safety of the marina and vessel assets.
Job Responsibilities:
Pre-opening
  • Support the on-the-job training of junior dockhands.
  • A strong focus on maintenance and fault-finding is essential to support the creation of a snagging list for the marina prior to handover and acceptance.
  • Supporting the creation of schedules and basic reporting functions.
  • Supports the development of site-specific SOPs by providing feedback and adjustments, collaborating with management to enhance team training.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time as directed by the Supervisor or Manager.
  • Notifies the manager of any concerns regarding the marina.
  • Adopting a flexible approach towards working times as may be reasonably required to properly fulfill their duties.
  • Ensure that vessels in the marina are securely moored and protected from damage at all times, and communicate with the captains and crew as needed.
Operational
  • Assisting guests and crew with services they may reasonably request.
  • Leading the routine checks, cleaning, and maintenance of the pontoons, marina workboats, and marina facilities.
  • Leading the cleaning and washing of vessels according to roster and operational requirements, ensuring adherence to SOPs and monitoring the use of company resources.
  • Cleaning and tidying the marina and jetties, removing litter from the sea, and emptying garbage bins.
  • Managing inventory, ensuring safe storage, and using the correct cleaning chemicals for the right incidents while following product instructions and usage procedures.
  • Strong foundational maintenance skills to assist with marina upkeep and demonstrate initiative in carrying out repairs.
  • Assess the cleanliness of the marina and proactively lead the cleaning and polishing of fittings and fixtures as required.
  • Ensuring that all public areas are always clean, tidy, and presentable.
  • Driving club cars for passengers, luggage, and garbage duties.
  • Daily, weekly, and accident reporting using diaries and administrative forms, as well as adequate computer skills for marina management reporting.
  • Active involvement in all training programs and learning additional skills, championing customer service training programs.
  • Supervising operations at marina fuel docks and handling fuel payments.
  • Leading the dockhand team in support of vessel movements, line handling, and rescue initiatives.
  • Operating the marina workboat (with the correct license and proven skills) to support berthing, emergency procedures, and any necessary towing.
  • Assisting at special events, exhibitions, and promotions.
  • Championing all health, safety, and environmental policies along with all company guidelines. Ensuring adherence to these by everyone and reporting any variances to the marina management team.
  • Able to apply the knowledge of RSG processes to other marinas if required.
  • Ensure that all marina rules and regulations are followed, educate yacht crew as needed, support the proactive resolution of basic infractions, and maintain records of these in reports to the manager.
  • During periods of inclement weather, additional shifts will be scheduled, or alternatively, workers will remain on call in case of an emergency.
  • Showing no restraint in order to save life or property in the event of an emergency, following company ERP and protocols.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications & Experience:
  • A solid secondary education.
  • Experience in the Middle East, particularly in KSA, would be advantageous.
  • Ability to work physically outdoors while carrying up to 23 kg.
  • Able to swim or move safely through the water for 50 m.
  • First Aid Training.
  • Basic firefighting knowledge and prior training are preferred.
  • Previous experience in a marina, yachting, or watersports environment, along with knowledge of marina equipment.
Skills:
  • Good communication skills and clear handwriting.
  • Ability to communicate using UHF and/or VHF with yachting vocabulary.
  • A positive attitude and a customer-centered approach.
  • Well-organized.

  • This is a position for those with marina or yachting/watersports knowledge who are able to be shifted independently.
