Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Riyadh is seeking a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer with 10 years of experience to work on EHV & HV overhead line towers, civil foundation design and steel structures. The role is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, offering a fast-paced consulting environment and strong career growth.

You will collaborate with the Civil/Structural team to develop specifications, designs, bid documents, and conduct design reviews, audits, and construction supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in EHV OHTL or related projects.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and presentation skills.
• Eligibility for registration with the Professional Order of Engineers.
• Willing to travel for short trips to sites and international offices.
• Fluency in English and French; other languages welcome.

Responsibilities

• Development of technical specifications for procurement.
• Development of conceptual and detail design of HV substations (single line diagrams, layouts, BOM, etc.).
• Design interfaces with protection and control systems, civil works, structures.
• Preparation of bid documents and bid evaluations.
• Design review of detail design performed by OEMs and third parties.
• Ensure interdisciplinary coordination.
• Audits and technical assessments of HV and MV substations.
• Construction supervision; development of installation procedures and method statements.
• Commissioning supervision.
• Witnessing factory testing.
• Feasibility and techno-economic studies (substations, distribution systems, etc.).
• Design studies and calculations (load flow, short-circuit, grounding, lightning protection, lighting, busbar design, etc.)

Job Description Overview SNC-Lavalin has an exciting full-time career opportunity for a Civil/Structural Engineer of 10 years’ experience to build a career in the area of EHV & HV OHL towers civil foundation design and EHV & HV OHL towers steel structure design. The role is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The candidate will work in a fast-paced consulting environment with excellent career growth opportunities.

Your role Working in collaboration with the Civil/Structural team to prepare the following deliverables / provide the following engineering services (non-exhaustive list):

• Development of technical specifications for the procurement.
• Development of conceptual and detail design of HV substations (single line diagrams, layouts, BOM, etc.)
• Design of interfaces with protection and control systems, civil works, structures.
• Preparation of bid documents and bid evaluations.
• Design review of detail design performed by O.E.M. and third-party detail design.

About you Bachelor’s degree in Civil/ Structural Engineering, from a recognized institution (Master’s degree in power systems, an asset). Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in Engineering, Design and Construction of Extra High Voltage OHTL or related projects. Exceptional academic and professional record. Exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities with a focus achieving results. Team player with great interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Client focused, highly autonomous, and ability to work under pressure. Comprehensive understanding of power system fundamentals. Knowledge or experience in HVDC, FACTS, or HV Cables, an asset. Eligibility for registration with a Professional Order of Engineers. Knowledge of IEC, IEEE and CSA standards for electrical equipment and installations. Availability for short trips to construction sites, factories, client’s offices; in Canada, international and overseas. Fluency in English and French languages, both spoken and written. Additional languages will be considered an asset. Proficiency in the following (or similar) software tools, an asset: ETAP, CYMECAP, AUTOCAD.
