Job Description Overview AtkinsRéalis is seeking a highly experienced Senior Civil / Structural Engineer to support the design review, construction supervision, technical coordination, and delivery of major high-rise residential, commercial, hospitality, mixed-use, and large-scale building developments in Madinah, Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership for all civil and structural engineering activities, ensuring compliance with project requirements, Saudi regulations, international standards, quality objectives, and project schedules. Your role Lead the review and coordination of civil and structural designs for high-rise buildings and large-scale developments. Ensure all structural works comply with project specifications, Saudi Building Code (SBC), international standards, and client requirements. Review and approve structural calculations, engineering reports, design drawings, and technical specifications. Evaluate structural systems including reinforced concrete, post-tensioned structures, precast systems, composite structures, and structural steel frameworks. Review contractor submissions including shop drawings, method statements, material submittals, temporary works designs, and engineering proposals. Conduct constructability reviews and recommend optimized engineering solutions. Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, quality standards, and contract requirements. Conduct site inspections and witness critical construction activities and testing. Review and verify contractor quality control procedures, inspection requests, and test results. Coordinate closely with architectural, mechanical, electrical, façade, geotechnical, and construction teams. Provide technical leadership during design coordination meetings and multidisciplinary workshops. Evaluate and resolve structural design conflicts and construction-related issues. Support value engineering initiatives and identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising structural integrity. Monitor contractor performance and recommend corrective actions where required. Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental requirements. Participate in progress meetings and provide technical input regarding structural risks, challenges, and mitigation measures. Review variation requests, technical queries, and structural claims impacting project delivery. Assist with testing, commissioning, project handover, and defect liability management. Mentor and support junior engineers and site supervision teams.
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from a recognized university. Master's Degree in Structural Engineering is preferred. Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng), MIStructE, MICE, or equivalent professional registration is highly desirable. Membership with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) is preferred. Additional qualifications in Project Management or Construction Management are advantageous. 15 to 20 years of professional civil and structural engineering experience. Minimum 10 years of experience on major high-rise and large-scale building projects. Previous Saudi Arabia or GCC experience is highly preferred. Experience working with international consultants, PMCs, contractors, and developers. Demonstrated involvement throughout the project lifecycle from design development through construction and handover. Experience in construction supervision and site-based engineering roles is preferred.
