Qualifications

• 2+ years of engineering management experience or equivalent leadership experience.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and a technical background in either the Clojure ecosystem or Frontend technologies such as React and TypeScript.
• Ability to fluently read and understand code and participate meaningfully in technical discussions.
• Strong product sensibilities, translate requirements into engineering solutions, and assess risks.
• Ability to debug project execution and determine changes across people, processes, scope, or implementation.
• Strong problem-decomposition skills to break complex work into smaller increments and adapt plans based on feedback.
• Proven ability to unblock blockers and ship high-quality software.
• Strong coaching and mentoring skills in flat organizations without rigid ladders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for asynchronous collaboration.
• Ability to work with globally distributed teams and manage priorities autonomously.
• Outcome-oriented mindset with technical curiosity and focus on long-term value.

Responsibilities

• Directly manage and support a team of engineers to deliver high-quality features.
• Plan and execute the product roadmap with Product, Design, and Success stakeholders.
• Coach engineers and support their career development with feedback.
• Remove obstacles and improve team processes to increase iteration speed.
• Assess execution challenges and adjust people, scope, dependencies, and delivery.
• Maintain technical involvement by understanding problems and grounding decisions in implementation realities.
• Review designs, code, and proposals to identify risks and clarify requirements.
• Break complex initiatives into manageable components to evolve plans with new information.
• Hire, onboard, and develop engineers while fostering a collaborative culture.
• Use technical judgment to prioritize and deliver effectively.
