Job summary

International Maritime Industries is seeking a Welding Engineer in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province. This role ensures that all welding activities meet Aramco Engineering Standards and project specifications.

The ideal candidate holds a degree in Metallurgical or Mechanical Engineering with at least 3 to 6 years in Oil & Gas. Key responsibilities include developing welding procedures and managing qualification tests.

Qualifications

  • 3-6 years of experience in Oil & Gas Construction Industry quality functions.
  • Saudi Aramco Approved Welding Engineer (SAP Number mandatory).
  • Diploma in International / European Welding Engineer (IWE / EWE).

Job description

Job Purpose / Objective

To ensure all welding activities comply with Aramco Engineering Standards (SAES), international codes, and project specifications. The Welding Engineer is responsible for developing welding procedures, qualifying welders, and monitoring welding operations to maintain quality and safety standards.

Key Accountabilities
  • Prepare Welding Execution Plan for the projects at bid stage as well as upon award of the projects
  • Possess in depth knowledge and interpreting skills in AWS D1.1 and ASME IX
  • Manage welding procedure qualification activities and ensure project specific requirement / company requirement with respect to welding and material properties/selection are met
  • Ensure the welder qualification tests are conducted according to the project spec. / company standard
  • Responsible for welding consumable and process planning, selection, and monitoring to ensure the right type and stock of welding consumables are always maintained, with orders placed timely
  • Carry out weld audits for checking the storage, preservation, and handling of welding consumables according to the manufacturer’s recommendations & IMI’s in-house procedures
  • Investigation and management of the welding defect rate and take appropriate mitigation plan for reducing further occurrence
  • Review of bid documentation assigned by the QC Manager and identify nonstandard welding / material requirement or identify other potential areas of concern
  • The costs related to Welding Engineering shall be highlighted for capturing them in the bid
  • Liaise with project management team, client, other department like Production, Planning and Engineering etc. to ensure Welding Engineering related risks and opportunities are communicated during the execution phase
  • Responsible for identifying material and consumables related requirements, preparing method statement and technical sheet for consumable handling and control
  • Interpretation of applicable codes and standards including client specifications for materials, welding and welding consumable management
  • Prepare weekly/monthly welding status reports for the client and management
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree in Metallurgical / Mechanical Engineering
Professional Qualifications
  • Saudi Aramco Approved Welding Engineer (SAP Number mandatory)
  • Diploma in International / European Welding Engineer (IWE / EWE)
  • ISO 9001:2015 Auditor or Lead Auditor Certification
  • Certification in NDT methods will be an added advantage
Experience
  • Minimum of 3 - 6 years’ experience in Oil & Gas Construction Industry quality functions
Languages
  • Proficiency in English and knowledge in Arabic will be added advantage
