The Welding Engineer is responsible for planning, controlling, supervising and providing technical support for all welding activities associated with fabrication, construction, installation, maintenance and repair works.
The Welding Engineer shall ensure that welding activities are carried out in accordance with approved WPS/PQR/WPQ, project specifications, applicable international codes, client requirements and quality standards.
The position requires strong knowledge of welding processes, welding metallurgy, materials, welding consumables, welding procedures, NDT, PWHT and welding quality control.
Role & responsibilities
- Prepare, review and qualify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
- Prepare and review Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
- Develop welding procedures based on project specifications and applicable codes.
- Witness and coordinate welding procedure qualification tests and welding parameters.
- Review mechanical test and NDT results associated with procedure qualification.
- Maintain approved welding procedure records.
- Plan and coordinate welder qualification tests.
- Review Welder Performance Qualification (WPQ/WQT) records.
- Ensure welders are qualified for the applicable welding process, material, thickness, position and joint configuration.
- Maintain welder qualification and performance records.
- Monitor welder performance and productivity.
- Identify welders requiring requalification or additional training.

- Material/MTC and filler-metal compatibility
- Weld documentation, traceability & NCR/CAR
- Client/project specifications and Oil & Gas EPC experience
