Role Context The Lifting Specialist provides the technical and field controls needed to execute routine, heavy, complex, and critical lifting operations safely. The position connects engineering calculations and lift planning with actual site conditions, ensuring crane capacity, rigging configuration, load characteristics, ground bearing capacity, access, weather, and surrounding construction interfaces are understood before a lift begins. This specialist has direct authority to challenge unsafe arrangements and suspend operations when site conditions depart from approved plans.
A Bachelor 's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction, or another relevant technical discipline is preferred, together with at least 5 years of practical experience in lifting, rigging, crane operations, or construction lifting supervision. Candidates should have hands-on experience planning and supervising lifts on major construction, infrastructure, industrial, or airport developments. Strong knowledge of mobile and crawler cranes, rigging equipment, lifting accessories, crane load charts, lifting radii, boom configurations, ground conditions, and safe operating limitations is essential. The successful specialist should be confident preparing and reviewing critical lift studies and capable of identifying unsafe assumptions before equipment is mobilized. Experience with heavy equipment installation, tandem lifting, restricted-access operations, or unusual load configurations is highly desirable. A recognized lifting or rigging qualification such as LEEA, CPCS, OPITO, or an equivalent certification is preferred. Strong knowledge of construction HSE requirements and recognized lifting industry practices is also expected.
