Job summary

Career Maker Consultant BPC is seeking an experienced Construction Director to lead the construction and execution of a major utility-scale energy project in Saudi Arabia. The role requires strong leadership of EPC/EPCM activities and coordination with contractors, consultants and authorities.

You will manage safety, schedule, budget and quality, oversee pre-commissioning through commissioning and handover, ensure regulatory compliance, grid connection and testing, and report progress to senior

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Power Engineering or related discipline.
• 10–20+ years of construction/project management experience in energy, power, renewables or infrastructure.
• Experience managing EPC/EPCM contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience in Saudi Arabia or GCC preferred.

We are looking for an experienced Construction Director to lead the construction and execution of a major utility-scale energy project in Saudi Arabia.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in large-scale power, renewable energy, solar PV, energy infrastructure, transmission & distribution, substations, or related EPC projects. Direct BESS experience is advantageous but not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the overall construction and site execution of a major energy project.
• Manage EPC/EPCM contractors, subcontractors, consultants, OEMs and Owner’s Engineers.
• Oversee construction activities from mobilization through commissioning, energization and handover.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and according to required quality standards.
• Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning activities.
• Monitor project progress, schedule, cost, quality and HSE performance.
• Review construction methodologies, schedules, method statements, ITPs and technical submissions.
• Manage interfaces between civil, electrical, mechanical, grid connection and commissioning activities.
• Coordinate with clients, project company management, grid operators, authorities and other key stakeholders.
• Support contract administration, variations, claims, change orders and commercial matters.
• Oversee pre-commissioning, commissioning, energization and performance testing.
• Ensure compliance with applicable Saudi regulations, grid requirements and project specifications.
• Provide regular construction and progress reports to senior management.
• Support O&M mobilization and transition from construction to operations.
• Lead and develop multidisciplinary project and site teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Power Engineering or a related discipline.
• 10–20+ years of experience in construction/project management within the energy, power, renewable energy or infrastructure sectors.
• Strong experience in one or more of the following:
  • Utility-scale Solar PV
  • Power Generation
  • Renewable Energy
  • Substations
  • Transmission & distribution
  • Grid Infrastructure
  • Energy Storage / BESS
  • Large-scale EPC projects
• Proven experience managing EPC/EPCM contractors and multidisciplinary construction teams.
• Strong understanding of construction planning, project controls, commissioning and project handover.
• Experience managing major contractors, consultants, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
• Experience in Saudi Arabia or the wider GCC is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of contracts, commercial management, claims, variations and project risk.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to work at a major project site in Saudi Arabia.

Preferred

• Experience with utility-scale renewable energy or hybrid energy projects.
• Experience with BESS or energy storage projects.
• IPP/developer-side experience.
• Experience with grid connection, energization and performance testing.
• PMP, HSE or other relevant professional certifications.
• Experience working with international EPC contractors and Owner’s Engineers.
