Job summary

Al Jomaih Energy and Water in Medina is seeking a CCR Operator for their power generation team. This role involves monitoring and operating control systems of combined cycle power plants to ensure optimal performance and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical discipline and at least 5 years of professional experience, with a strong preference for experience in Siemens GT based CCGT systems. The position offers dynamic working conditions with shift work included.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor all aspects of power generation systems, including gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSG, and auxiliary electrical HV operations.
• Operate and adjust control systems to optimize plant performance, ensuring compliance with operational limits and efficiency targets.
• Communicate and coordinate dispatch instructions from the Load Dispatch Centre and implement them timely.
• Adjust generation levels according to real‑time demand while adhering to PPA terms.
• Maintain accurate records of operational parameters, performance metrics, and generation data.
• Prepare and submit reports on plant performance, operational incidents, and regulatory compliance.
• Follow established safety protocols; participate in safety audits, drills, and training; report hazards or incidents.
• Support the Shift Charge Engineer with isolations and PTW preparation.
• Act as an emergency response team member.
• Identify and diagnose operational issues with technical staff and field operators.
• Implement corrective actions and recommend improvements to reduce downtime and improve reliability.
• Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and operational teams to support plant performance.
• Provide training and guidance to junior operators and new staff.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, safety standards, and operational guidelines.
• Participate in reviews and inspections to uphold compliance with industry standards.

• Minimum 5 years total professional experience, with 3+ years as a CCR Operator in O&M of combined cycle power plants.
• Preference for experience with Siemens GT based CCGT.
• Strong understanding of combined cycle power generation processes, regulatory considerations, and contractual obligations under a PPA.
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of Arabic is advantageous.

Physical and Other Requirements

• Ability to work in a dynamic, high-pressure environment and manage emergency situations effectively.
• Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Experience with control room operations and Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
• Work primarily performed in a control room environment, with occasional visits to plant facilities.
