Position Overview
As Project Technical Manager, you will report to the Project Manager/Director and be part of the Engineering Business Line within the Project Execution scope. You will manage and supervise all project engineering and technical activities, ensuring alignment with contract requirements, project objectives, and delivery within time, cost, and quality targets.
Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities, ensuring compliance with project objectives, contract requirements, and quality standards
- Define and implement the project engineering organization, including staffing and coordination with discipline leads
- Ensure effective application of technological and engineering solutions throughout all project phases up to plant handover
- Participate in project planning and scheduling, overseeing engineering deliverables and outsourcing strategies
- Lead risk management, design reviews, and interdisciplinary coordination, ensuring consistency and optimization of technical solutions
- Take ownership of critical technical decisions, resolving conflicts between disciplines and ensuring alignment with project goals
- Monitor and control engineering budgets, manhours, and material costs, proposing mitigation actions when deviations occur
- Support Project Manager in client interactions, contract management, variation orders, and technical negotiations
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or related discipline)
- Experience: Minimum 10–15 years of experience in engineering/project roles, with proven leadership experience in EPC projects within oil & gas, energy, or infrastructure sectors
- Languages: Additional languages (Italian, French, Arabic) are an advantage
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of engineering design processes across all project phases (conceptual to commissioning)
- Proven experience in project engineering management, planning, and multidisciplinary coordination
- Expertise in risk management, cost control, and engineering budgeting
- Deep understanding of international engineering standards, codes, QA/QC, and HSE requirements
- Capability to manage interfaces with clients, licensors, vendors, and subcontractors
- IT Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
- Familiarity with engineering and document management systems
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) is an advantage
