Job summary

Saipem in Doha, Qatar seeks a Package Manager to lead package engineering within project execution scopes. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage procurement interfaces, and ensure delivery on budget, schedule, and quality across oil & gas EPC projects.

Education required is a Mechanical, Chemical, or related engineering degree with 8–12 years of experience. International travel and compliance with HSE/QA/QC standards are expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters in Mechanical, Chemical or related Engineering field.
  • 8–12 years of engineering experience with proven package engineer/manager roles.
  • Experience in oil & gas, energy, or EPC projects.
  • Additional languages (Italian, French, Arabic) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate package engineering activities to meet requirements, timelines and quality.
  • Manage multidisciplinary teams, define roles, delegate tasks and support development.
  • Oversee engineering planning, progress monitoring and reporting aligned with milestones.
  • Coordinate with procurement, vendors and subcontractors, including technical bid evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE, QA/QC and international codes and regulations.
  • Support bidding and tendering activities with cost estimation and documentation.
  • Manage interfaces across disciplines for effective technical integration.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge capitalization.

Purpose of the position:

As Package Manager you will respond to the Project Director/Technical Manager and be part of the Project Management/Engineering within project execution/packages scope. You will lead and manage package engineering activities, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and ensuring delivery within budget, schedule, and quality standards.

  • Lead and coordinate package engineering activities ensuring compliance with project requirements, timelines, and quality standards
  • Manage multidisciplinary teams, define roles, delegate tasks, and support team development
  • Oversee engineering planning, progress monitoring, and reporting, ensuring alignment with project milestones
  • Coordinate with procurement, vendors, and subcontractors, including technical bid evaluations and vendor follow-up
  • Ensure compliance with HSE, QA/QC standards, and international engineering codes and regulations
  • Support bidding and tendering activities, including cost estimation, technical documentation, and proposal preparation
  • Manage interfaces across disciplines, ensuring proper information flow and technical integration
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge capitalization, enhancing engineering methodologies and best practices

What are we looking for?

Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline

Experience:
Minimum 8–12 years of experience in engineering roles, with proven experience as Package Engineer / Package Manager within oil & gas, energy, or EPC projects

Languages:

  • Additional languages (Italian, French, Arabic) are a plus

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of package engineering design, workflows, and project lifecycle (conceptual to commissioning)
  • Experience with engineering manhour estimation, cost control, and budgeting
  • Expertise in vendor management, technical bid evaluation, and procurement processes
  • Knowledge of international engineering standards, codes, and HSE requirements
  • Ability to manage subcontractors, interfaces, and multidisciplinary coordination

IT Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
  • Familiarity with engineering software tools and document management systems
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) is an advantage

You will have the opportunity to travel internationally and support projects across EMEA and offshore/onshore locations, depending on project requirements.
