Job summary

Saipem in Qatar is seeking a Structural Superintendent to join the Fabrication Department of the COMP3 project. The role reports to the Fabrication Manager and focuses on organising erection works, managing interfaces with production, engineering, methods and quality control, and ensuring safety, quality and schedule adherence for both onshore and offshore scopes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in EPC Fabrication

Responsibilities

  • Organise, coordinate and control erection works with subcontractors or direct hiring and manage interfaces with production superintendents, engineering, methods disciplines and quality control
  • Coordinate sub-assemblies integration and complete the end product, including Mechanical Completion, preparation for load out, sea transport/offshore hook up load in and installation on foundations for onshore or offshore projects
  • Promote safe works practices and environmental protection
  • Ensure the fulfilment of the project quality and contractual requirements
  • Set-up time schedule adhering to the time frame allocated to the specific scope of work
  • Coordinate erection works to ensure correct and cost-effective performance, in accordance with operating programs
  • Coordinate support activities (scaffolding, lifting and handling)
  • Ensure welding activities and NDT are carried out and released before painting
  • Coordinate all disciplines involved in the work up to Mechanical Completion
  • Release mechanically completed system to Commissioning unit in the scheduled sequence
  • Ensure load out operations are carried out
  • Provide progress information and propose solutions to deviations from the program
  • Ensure proper discipline workflow and interface with project organization and client
  • Support resolution of technical problems during execution
  • Maintain accurate quantities, man-hours and preliminary cost estimates for scope changes
  • Ensure achievement of yields and durations as per project setup
  • Maintain execution data and supervision of works performed, subcontracted or direct hired
  • Coordinate human and technical resources and monitor vendors or specialists at site
  • Manage technical and administrative documentation
  • Interface with Asset department for equipment maintenance
  • Contribute to continuous improvement through methodologies and material management

Purpose of the position:

As Structural Superintendent, you will respond to the Fabrication Manager and be part of the COMP3 project within Fabrication Department.

How can you support us? Here below your responsibilities:
Mission
  • Organise, coordinate and control the erection works, both performed by subcontractors or in direct hiring, ensuring the management of interfaces with production superintendents, engineering, methods disciplines and quality control
  • Manage the activities to integrate sub-assemblies and complete the end product, including Mechanical Completion, preparation for load out, sea transport/offshore hook up load in and installation on foundations, as applicable for Onshore or Offshore projects.
Tasks
  • Promote safe works practices and environmental protection, ensuring that safety standards are respected
  • Ensure the fulfilment of the project quality and contractual requirements
  • Set-up time schedule adhering to the time frame allocated to the specific scope of work
  • Coordinate, and organise when in direct hiring, erection works to ensure correct and cost-effective performance, in accordance with the established operating programs, coordinating and controlling the activities performed by the dependent teams
  • Coordinate support activities (scaffolding, lifting and handling)
  • Ensure that welding activities and non-destructive controls are carried out and released before painting, with a view to cost optimization
  • Coordinate all disciplines involved in the work up to Mechanical Completion optimizing overlapping operations
  • Release mechanically completed system to Commissioning unit in the scheduled sequence
  • Ensure that load out operations are carried out
  • Give all information regarding the progress of the work indicating the cause of deviations between the program and the work carried out and propose solutions and/or request instructions to overcome these problems. Control production parameters in terms of efficiency and productivity
  • Ensure proper discipline workflow, interfacing with the project (home office and/or site/yard) organization and client
  • Support the resolution of technical problems encountered during the execution of the works
  • Ensure the correct quantities accounts of the works, including updating man-hours and preliminary cost estimates for scope of work changes
  • Ensure the achievement of yields and durations agreed during Project set-up
  • Assure that execution data (including manhours, equipment an d material utilization) are recorded and maintained, during the entire Project life, according to Project requirements through the Project Approved tools
  • Ensure the supervision and monitoring of the works performed, subcontracted or in direct hiring. Coordinate human and technical resources, indicating any needs or surplus. Plan and monitor vendors or any specialists activities at site
  • Manage the technical and administrative documentation
  • Interface with Asset department for equipment maintenance and repairing to ensure that equipment is kept in good working order
  • Contribute to continuous improvement process through the provision of suggestions regarding methodologies, tools, material management
What are we looking for?

Education: Any Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in EPC Fabrication
