Overview

Technical Writer position at Finastra. Finastra is seeking Technical Writers with 4+ years of experience in technical writing and excellent English communication skills. This role is responsible for designing and writing documentation and preparing training collaterals for our products. The successful candidate must develop extensive knowledge of the company's products, processes and customer goals. The candidate should be an abstract and creative thinker, capable of learning and summarizing complex concepts and issues, and be highly organized in both written and verbal communication.

The Team

As a Technical Writer, you will work as an individual contributor while also collaborating with other technical documentation writers as part of the Universal Banking Enterprise Documentation team. This role reports to Manager – Documentation.

Responsibilities

As a member of the Documentation team, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Working with development teams, product managers and business centers to research, develop, write, and maintain high-quality product documentation and collateral appropriate for the target audience.
• Developing and maintaining User Interface Guides, Online Help, Implementation and Configuration Manuals, Procedure Manuals, process documentation, Release notes and other collateral.
• Preparing content in alternate media forms (e.g., PowerPoint presentations, videos and other collateral) to supplement the documentation.
• Learning the product functionality through discussions with subject matter experts, personal use, and experimentation.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Experience

• Must have a portfolio of work with 4+ years of technical documentation experience that demonstrates excellent writing skills, preferably in financial industry domains.
• Prior experience of working in a product development organization with Agile methodology is preferred.
• Take independent ownership of documentation-related projects including development and maintenance of repositories of reference materials.
• Based on the need to work with Product Owners to build knowledge base/repositories as an input to Gen AI tools helping in quick turnaround time for queries.
• Familiarity with Software development life cycle and associated documentation stages including defined documentation templates.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, self-motivated, detail-oriented and able to work well as part of a team.
• Ability to quickly understand technical and functional concepts and present them as easily comprehensible structured documents.
• Ability to handle multiple documentation tasks or modules simultaneously, while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
• Evaluate current content and improve it through the use of latest tools and techniques.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or Computer Applications or a Degree in English/Publishing/Content Management with adequate industry experience.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat) is a must.
• Demonstrated experience with MadCap Flare is required.
• Experience using Microsoft Manual of Style, Jira, and Confluence.
• Experience using XML tools for documentation is preferred.
• Experience with GenAI tools in the technical writing field is an added advantage.
• Certification through the Society for Technical Communicators and/or proven relevant industry experience.
