Lever, Inc. is hiring a Staff Engineer (Core & MLOps) based in Portugal to shape foundational infrastructure for large-scale web data products and distributed teams. You will own core control planes, multi-language client libraries, and deployment pipelines across Kubernetes, Kafka, Java, Python, and gRPC.

In a remote-first environment, you will define platform standards, reliability practices, and service contracts while mentoring engineers and influencing long-term platform strategy.

Qualificações

• 10+ years building scalable distributed backend systems used across engineering teams.
• Strong Java (reactive frameworks) and Python proficiency.
• Deep experience with gRPC/Protobuf, schema evolution, and backward compatibility.
• Hands-on Kubernetes at scale, Terraform, and Kafka experience.
• Ability to design telemetry pipelines and reliable platform contracts.

Responsabilidades

• Architect the control and context planes, including service and schema registries.
• Own the service chassis, Java/Python clients, Helm charts, and pipelines.
• Define inter-service contracts with gRPC, API gateways, and versioning.
• Improve core platform infra: Kubernetes, Terraform, Nginx/HAProxy, Kafka.
• Lead architecture discussions via RFDs for orchestration and routing.
• Establish reliability practices: SLOs/SLIs, fault isolation, canary deployments.
• Participate in on-call rotations, post-mortems, and platform improvements.
• Mentor engineers and drive consistent, reliable software development.
