Decskill is growing and seeking a Senior GenAI Backend Engineer skilled in Node.js and TypeScript to join our AI products team in Portugal. You will design, build, and operate secure, scalable backend services across Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud with a strong emphasis on API design, testing, and DevOps practices.

Contribute to a multi-cloud GenAI platform, collaborate with an international team, and own significant parts of the backend delivery lifecycle from design to monitoring.

Qualificações

• Strong expertise in backend web application development.
• Expertise in API design, implementation, and operation.
• Hands-on Azure experience (App Services, Cosmos DB, Application Insights).
• DevOps practices and tools: Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) fundamentals and automation scripts.
• Expertise in prompt engineering: drafting, testing, iterating prompts for AI use.
• Autonomous and proactive with cross-functional teamwork.
• Clear English communication (B1+).

We are looking for an Senior GenAI Backend Engineer | Node.js & TypeScript!

Responsabilities:

1. Service Context

• Provision of application development services in support of a Multi-cloud GenAI platform (Azure / AWS / Google), with a primary focus on the Secure GPT service, within the AI products team for group entities.
• The service is oriented toward back-end development activities (approx. 90%) with limited front-end contributions (approx. 10%).
• The objective is to contribute to the evolution of platform capabilities, ensuring secure, scalable, and high-quality implementations aligned with business and technical requirements, and compliant with security and regulatory requirements.
• Continuous enhancement of platform functionalities and operational efficiency is expected within the scope of this service.

2. Service Scope (not limited to)

• Design, development, and enhancement of features related to the Secure GPT service: document understanding, translation, agentic capabilities, web usage, APIs, automation.
• Execution of end-to-end development activities: study, analysis, technical design, implementation, documentation, testing, and monitoring.
• Definition and tracking of KPIs to monitor usage and support data-informed decisions.
• Collaboration within an international team and regular communication with Tech Lead and Product Owner to align technical outputs with expected service objectives.
• Implementation of solutions compliant with security, regulatory, and internal standards.
• Identification of improvements in processes, automation, and customer service delivery, and contribution to continuous improvement of the product.

3. Service Deliverables (not limited to)

• Delivered and fully tested functional components for the Secure GPT service.
• Search, study, define/design technical documentation covering architecture, APIs, and implemented features.
• Defined KPIs and associated monitoring (dashboards, metrics, or reports) to track usage and performance.
• Automated workflows and scripts supporting platform operations and efficiency.
• Contributions and proposals for continuous improvement of the platform, including implemented enhancements.

Requirements

• Strong expertise in web application development, with a focus on back-end technologies and limited front-end activities.
• Expertise in the full testing lifecycle.
• Unit tests
• End-to-end (E2E) tests.
• Developers owning the full testing cycle.
• Expertise in API design, implementation, and operation.
• Hands-on expertise with Azure, including: Design, operations, and management of App Services, Cosmos DB, Application Insights, Monitoring.
• Expertise with DevOps practices and tools: Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) fundamentals and automation scripts for workflows and operations.
• Expertise in prompt engineering: Able to draft, test, and iteratively improve prompts to leverage AI effectively.
• Autonomous and pro-active working style: able to take topics from A to Z without hand-holding and continuously improve own work.
• Collaborative mindset: able to work effectively in cross-functional, international teams.
• Adaptable: comfortable with shifting priorities and evolving context.
• Clear communicator in English (B1 level minimum), both written and verbal.
• Problem-solver: proactive and solution-oriented by default.
• Good level of english.
