IRIUM Portugal is seeking a Senior Database Administrator – Oracle (ExaCC / Exadata) in Lisbon for challenging production environments. You will optimise CPU, storage and I/O performance, implement robust backup/recovery, and guide development teams on efficient SQL coding and database design.

Ideal candidates have 5–10 years of hands-on Oracle experience, proficiency with Oracle tools, and strong communication skills in English.

Qualificações

• 5–10 years of hands-on experience with Oracle databases in production environments.
• Strong expertise in Oracle database performance tuning, compression and resource optimisation.
• Experience with ExaCC CPU optimisation, compression techniques, query tuning and indexing strategies.
• Thorough knowledge of Oracle RAC, Data Guard, RMAN and OEM.
• English – C1 (spoken and written) – essential for communications.

We are currently looking for a Senior Database Administrator – Oracle (ExaCC / Exadata) with strong expertise in Oracle database performance optimisation, resource efficiency and project delivery across complex production environments.

Required Competencies:

• 5–10 years of hands‑on experience with Oracle databases in production environments
• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a comparable technical field
• Strong expertise in Oracle database performance tuning, compression and resource optimisation
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Oracle RAC
  • Data Guard
  • RMAN
  • Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
  • SQL
  • PL/SQL scripting
• Experience with ExaCC CPU optimisation, compression techniques, query tuning and indexing strategies
• Strong understanding of Exadata environments
• Experience optimising database performance with a focus on CPU efficiency, storage cost reduction and I/O efficiency
• Experience with Kerberos authentication and Oracle Client upgrades
• Knowledge of Transparent Data Encryption (TDE)
• Experience with database auditing and compliance controls
• Experience performing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for performance incidents and complex database issues
• Ability to guide development teams on database design, SQL coding, performance and scalability best practices
• Knowledge of Linux and/or Unix environments
• Knowledge of Windows environments
• Experience with Oracle SQL Developer and Toad for Oracle
• English – C1 (spoken and written)
• Valid work permit or EU/Schengen nationality allowing legal employment in Portugal

Preferred Competencies:

• Hands‑on experience with Oracle ExaCC (Exadata Cloud@Customer)
• Experience with Oracle ZFS and ZDLRA
• Experience optimising backup and recovery processes
• Knowledge of Azure SQL and/or PostgreSQL
• Knowledge of Azure Synapse and/or DB2
• Experience with:
  • Jenkins
  • UrbanCode Deploy
  • Qlik Replicate
  • Git / Bitbucket
  • ServiceNow
  • Jira
  • DBeaver
• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or equivalent certification
• Experience working in regulated environments, such as financial services
• French and/or Dutch language skills

Location:

Lisbon – Hybrid
Salary Range: €1.900–€2.100 gross/month
