IRIUM Portugal is seeking a Senior SQL Server Database Administrator to own production database operations, optimize performance, and resolve incidents. The role emphasizes autonomy across the DBA lifecycle, including release management and cloud service exposure on Azure.

The ideal candidate has 5–10 years of SQL Server experience, strong T‑SQL, PowerShell scripting, and comfort working with Azure SQL, Azure DevOps, and UCD. Fluency in English and EU work eligibility are required.

Responsabilidades

• Manage production database operations across the full DBA lifecycle.
• Diagnose and resolve complex SQL Server incidents; perform RCA and post‑mortem analysis.
• Lead incident management, production support and release management.
• Automate tasks with PowerShell; monitor storage accounts and performance.
• Collaborate with application, infra, and release teams; support deployments via Azure DevOps and UCD.

We are currently looking for a Senior SQL Server Database Administrator with strong experience in production database operations and Azure cloud services, capable of working autonomously across the full DBA lifecycle, from performance optimisation and production support to incident resolution and release management.

Required Competencies:

• 5–10 years of hands‑on experience with Microsoft SQL Server in production environments
• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a comparable technical field
• Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server installation and configuration
• Strong experience with Always‑On Availability Groups
• Experience with Failover Cluster Instances (FCI)
• Strong experience with T‑SQL scripting and optimisation
• Experience with query tuning and execution plan analysis
• Strong hands‑on experience with Azure cloud services
• Experience with:

• Experience executing and validating production releases using Azure DevOps and UrbanCode Deploy (UCD)
• Experience with database security, permissions management and audit‑quality documentation
• Experience collaborating with application teams, infrastructure partners and release management teams
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL
• Experience with Jira and DBeaver
• English – C1 (spoken and written)
• Valid work permit or EU/Schengen nationality allowing legal employment in Portugal

Preferred Competencies:

• Azure Database Administrator certification
• Microsoft SQL Server certifications
• Experience working across multiple database technologies
• Experience in regulated environments, such as financial services
• French and/or Dutch language skills

Salary Range: €1.900–€2.100 gross/month
