Job summary

Unit4 in Lisbon, Portugal is seeking a Collections Specialist to join its Finance team on a permanent basis. You will manage outstanding accounts, contact clients, negotiate payment arrangements, and maintain accurate records to protect cash flow.

The role requires 2–3 years in collections, strong communication, proficiency in MS Office and CRM systems, and fluency in Portuguese. Dutch knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years experience in collections or accounts receivable
• Proficient with collections management software and accounting systems
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Excellent organisational and time-management abilities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Good data entry and record-keeping
• Knowledge of payment recovery procedures and credit management
• Portuguese language proficiency (written and spoken)
• Experience with CRM platforms
• Familiarity with compliance in collections
• Previous experience in financial services environment
• Dutch knowledge is a plus

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse outstanding accounts to identify overdue payments and collection opportunities
• Contact clients by phone, email, and written correspondence to pursue payment
• Negotiate payment arrangements and settlement terms with clients
• Maintain accurate records of collection activities in the system
• Process payments and reconcile accounts
• Investigate payment discrepancies and resolve disputes
• Prepare regular collection reports and analyze performance
• Follow up on promised payments and escalated non-compliant accounts
• Ensure compliance with regulations and company policies
• Collaborate with Accounts Receivable to improve recovery rates
