MoOngy is seeking a Payroll Specialist in Portugal to ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing while delivering an excellent employee experience. The role handles complex payroll matters in a structured environment and supports HR process improvements.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field, 3–5 years of payroll experience, strong knowledge of Portuguese labor law plus IRS and Social Security, and hands-on ADP and Workday experience with strong Excel and

  • 3–5 years of payroll administration experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Portuguese labor law, IRS and social security.
  • Mandatory experience with ADP payroll systems.
  • Mandatory hands-on experience with Workday.
  • Good Excel skills (intermediate to advanced).
  • Fluent English (written and spoken).
  • Autonomy and discretion with confidential information.

Responsabilidades

  • Manage end-to-end monthly payroll processing with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Administer absences, vacations, leaves, and terminations.
  • Ensure compliance with Portuguese labor law, tax regs and social security.
  • Liaise with Social Security, ACT and other authorities.
  • Prepare and submit Salary Declarations and Relatório Único.
  • Support audits; maintain payroll records securely.
  • Guide employees and stakeholders on payroll matters.

The Role: Payroll Specialist

Work Model: Hybrid (2x per week at the office), but the first six months are office-based full-time

Languages: English (Mandatory) | French and Spanish (Nice to have)

Eligibility: Currently living in Portugal and legally authorized to work there

We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join our team, ensuring accurate and compliant payroll processing while delivering an excellent employee experience. This role offers the opportunity to work in a structured environment, handling complex payroll matters and contributing to the continuous improvement of HR processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and execute the end-to-end monthly payroll process with high levels of accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Administer employee absences, vacations, leaves, and employment terminations.
  • Ensure compliance with Portuguese labor law, tax regulations, and social security requirements.
  • Liaise with Social Security, ACT, and other relevant governmental authorities.
  • Prepare and submit all mandatory legal reports, including Salary Declarations and the Annual Single Report (Relatório Único).
  • Support audits and ensure payroll records are maintained accurately and securely.
  • Provide guidance on payroll-related matters to employees and internal stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Management, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of solid experience in Payroll administration.
  • Strong knowledge of Portuguese labor legislation, taxation (IRS), Social Security, and employee benefits.
  • Mandatory experience with ADP payroll systems.
  • Mandatory hands-on experience with Workday.
  • Good Excel skills (intermediate to advanced level).
  • Good command of English, both written and spoken.
  • High level of autonomy, analytical thinking, attention to detail, and discretion when handling confidential information.
