Job summary

Closer Consulting, a Data Science company, is seeking a Mid Machine Learning Engineer to help build our MLOps practice from the ground up in Lisbon with hybrid work options. You will productionize ML models, develop CI/CD pipelines, and monitor deployed models while collaborating with Data Scientists and Data Engineers.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in ML, strong Python/SQL skills, experience with TF/PyTorch/Scikit-learn, and cloud/container technologies (AWS/GCP/Azure, Docker, Kubernetes).

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in the Machine Learning field.
• Proficiency in Python (OOP, design patterns, pytest/unittest) and SQL.
• Solid experience with ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn) and model-serving APIs (FastAPI, Flask).
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• Practical understanding of MLOps fundamentals, Git workflows, and model monitoring/optimization.
• Strong communication, ownership, and problem-solving skills in a collaborative environment.
• Java or Scala experience is a plus!
• Hybrid — Lisbon or Porto, Portugal.
• English B2 level or higher.

Responsibilities

• Productionize ML models developed by Data Scientists, turning them into scalable, production‑ready systems.
• Build, maintain, and execute ML‑focused CI/CD deployment pipelines.
• Monitor production models, tracking performance, metrics, and implementing alerting solutions.
• Optimize model response times, operational efficiency, and drive retraining automation initiatives.
• Write clean, structured, and testable code, collaborating closely with Data Scientists and Data Engineers.
