DataSmart is seeking a Mid Machine Learning Engineer (Hybrid – Lisbon) to productionize models, build ML CI/CD pipelines, and optimize deployments. You will collaborate with Data Scientists and Data Engineers to ensure scalable, testable Python code and robust model serving APIs using FastAPI or Flask.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in ML, strong Python and SQL, experience with TensorFlow/PyTorch/Scikit-learn, and familiarity with cloud platforms and Docker/Kubernetes.

Qualificações

• 3+ years of professional experience in Machine Learning.
• Strong Python skills with well-structured, testable code.
• Strong SQL skills for querying and manipulating data.
• Understanding of MLOps fundamentals, including Git versioning and code reviews.
• Experience with core ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or Jenkins).
• Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure for running ML workloads.
• Experience deploying models using Docker and/or Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with building model-serving APIs (FastAPI or Flask).
• English proficiency professional level (minimum B2).
• Residence in Portugal with ability to work in hybrid Lisbon.

Join our team as a Mid Machine Learning Engineer(Hybrid – Lisbon)!

What You’ll Do:

• Productionize machine learning models developed by Data Scientists and reliably deploy them into production environments.
• Build and maintain ML-focused CI/CD pipelines supporting model deployment and lifecycle management.
• Monitor models in production, tracking performance, failures, and key metrics, and implementing alerting where required.
• Develop clean, structured, maintainable, and testable Python code aligned with engineering standards.
• Collaborate closely with Data Scientists and Data Engineers on model deployment and data transformation initiatives.
• Optimize model performance, response times, and operational efficiency in production environments.
• Contribute to retraining automation initiatives and the continuous improvement of MLOps practices.
• Take ownership of production deployments, pipelines, monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational improvements.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of professional experience in Machine Learning.
• Strong Python skills, including project structuring, reusable and testable code, object-oriented programming, design patterns, and testing with pytest or unittest.
• Strong SQL skills for querying and manipulating data.
• Understanding of MLOps fundamentals, including Git versioning, pull requests, code reviews, and ML-specific versioning practices.
• Experience with core ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, using tools such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
• Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure for running and integrating ML workloads.
• Experience deploying models using Docker and/or Kubernetes, including an understanding of model optimization and compression.
• Familiarity with building model-serving APIs using FastAPI or Flask.
• Basic knowledge of Java or Scala is a plus, particularly for integration with existing systems.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across Data Science and Engineering teams.
• Proactive and structured approach to problem-solving, with the ability to handle moderately complex technical challenges.
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability for production deliverables, deployments, pipelines, and fixes.
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to evolving technologies, feedback, and MLOps best practices.
• English proficiency at a professional level (minimum B2).
• Living in Portugal and available to work in a hybrid model in Lisbon.
