Job summary

Axians Portugal is seeking an experienced APS Cloud Specialist to join a critical banking environment. You will ensure stability and continuous improvement of business applications and production services, with emphasis on incident management, automation, and release governance.

You will work across Linux, cloud platforms, and containerized environments, collaborating with global teams to maintain a reliable production landscape and deliver superior user experiences.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field.
• At least 5 years in IT Operations, Application Support, or Software Engineering.
• Experience supporting critical applications in regulated environments.
• Minimum 2 years hands-on with cloud platforms (IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure or Google Cloud).
• At least 2 years working with Ansible and Docker.
• Strong knowledge of Linux, automation, and scripting (Python or Bash).
• Experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments.
• English proficiency (written and spoken) at a professional level.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and functional support for business-critical applications.
• Monitor performance, investigate incidents, and resolve per SLAs.
• Coordinate releases, deployments, and change requests.
• Analyze logs to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
• Create and maintain automation using Ansible and Terraform.
• Enhance monitoring and observability for platform stability.
• Participate in DR exercises, production readiness, and knowledge sharing.
• Document operations procedures and runbooks.
• Collaborate with development and global support teams for stability.
• Contribute to a 24/7 production support model as needed.

APS CLOUD SPECIALIST

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for an experienced Application Production Support Engineer to join a critical banking environment, ensuring the stability, availability, and continuous improvement of business applications and production services. You will play a key role in application support, incident management, service monitoring, release management, automation initiatives, and operational excellence, contributing to a seamless user experience and reliable application performance.

What You Will Do On a Daily Basis

• Provide technical and functional support for business-critical applications and services.
• Monitor application performance, investigate incidents, and ensure timely resolution according to service level objectives.
• Orchestrate and manage application releases, deployments, and change requests within your scope.
• Analyse system, middleware, and application logs to identify root causes and prevent recurring incidents.
• Build and maintain automation solutions using Ansible, Terraform, and scripting languages to improve operational efficiency.
• Implement and enhance monitoring capabilities to ensure platform stability and service availability.
• Participate in disaster recovery exercises, production readiness activities, and knowledge transfer sessions.
• Create, maintain, and continuously improve operational procedures and application documentation.
• Collaborate closely with development teams and global support teams to maintain a stable production environment.
• Participate in a 24/7 production support model, including shifts, on-call rotations, weekends, and public holidays when required.

Your Key Skills

• Application Production Support (L1/L2) in complex enterprise environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and incident management capabilities.
• Linux administration, shell scripting, and command-line expertise.
• Infrastructure automation with Ansible and Terraform.
• Containerization and orchestration technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Monitoring and observability tools, including Dynatrace.
• Cloud platforms such as IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• CI/CD concepts and tools such as Jenkins, Travis, or Concourse.
• PL/SQL and database troubleshooting.
• ITIL practices and service management methodologies.

Your Main Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in IT Operations, Application Support, or Software Engineering.
• Experience supporting critical applications within highly regulated environments.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience with cloud platforms (IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
• At least 2 years of experience working with Ansible and Docker.
• Strong knowledge of Linux platforms, automation, infrastructure management, and scripting (Python and/or Bash).
• Experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, global, and fast-paced environment.
• Relevant certifications such as RH294, CKAD, DO374, Terraform Associate, or Vault Associate are considered a plus.
• Advanced level of English (written and spoken).
