Job summary

GoLean Health is seeking a Medical Virtual Assistant to support a busy clinic remotely. The role emphasizes proactive, detail-oriented administration, with responsibilities spanning insurance verification, claims processing, EOBs, and billing support to reduce provider workload.

The ideal candidate is highly communicative in English, able to think ahead, and comfortable working independently with strong ownership and accountability.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as Medical Virtual Assistant.
• Experience supporting a US healthcare practice.
• Experience with insurance verification, EOBs, claims, denied claims, patient balances, or billing support.
• Exposure to CPT and ICD-10 codes.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Must be a Mac OS user.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Proven leadership, ownership, or high-accountability experience in a previous role.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient insurance after check-in and document information accurately.
• Review denied claims, identify denial reasons, and assist with reprocessing.
• Review and process Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and clear backlogs.
• Track outstanding patient balances and coordinate resolution steps.
• Support claims-related workflows including Cigna and VA claims; escalate when needed.
• Coordinate vendor payments and ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Monitor SOAP notes for accuracy and timely completion.
• Track missed/cancelled appointments and scheduling trends to protect revenue.
• Prepare reports on balances, missed appointments, EOB backlog, denied claims, and other metrics with insights.
• Facilitate smooth communication between provider, care team, and admin staff.
