Qualifications

About the role

Vikings Group of Companies is seeking a Server (Nihongo-Speaking) to join our dynamic hospitality team in Makati City, Metro Manila. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our valued guests. As a server, you will be the primary point of contact between our kitchen and our customers, ensuring every interaction reflects our commitment to outstanding service excellence. Your ability to communicate fluently in both English and Japanese will be instrumental in providing personalised service to our Japanese‑speaking clientele, making this role strategically important to our business growth and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Greeting and seating guests promptly with a warm, welcoming demeanour whilst ensuring optimal table management
• Taking accurate food and beverage orders from customers and communicating them clearly to the kitchen and bar staff
• Providing knowledgeable recommendations about menu items, specials, and beverages to enhance the dining experience
• Serving food and drinks with precision, following proper plating and service standards
• Monitoring guests' satisfaction during their meal and addressing any concerns or special requests promptly and professionally
• Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the dining area, including tables, chairs, and floor spaces
• Communicating effectively with guests in Japanese to ensure comprehensive understanding of their needs and preferences

What we're looking for

• Fluency in Japanese language (both spoken and written) is essential; ability to communicate comfortably with Japanese‑speaking guests
• Proven experience as a server or in a similar front‑of‑house hospitality role, preferably in a restaurant or upscale dining establishment
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a genuine passion for providing outstanding customer service
• Strong ability to work efficiently under pressure whilst maintaining composure during peak service times
• Knowledge of food and beverage service standards, including proper plating techniques and table service etiquette
• Attention to detail and strong organisational skills to manage multiple tables simultaneously
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the business
