Royal York Property Management is looking for a highly capable Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to support the accuracy, control, and timely execution of our accounts payable operations.
The person in this role will be responsible for reviewing invoices, maintaining vendor accounts, preparing payments, resolving discrepancies, supporting reconciliations, and ensuring that financial records are complete and reliable.
This position requires someone with substantial full-cycle accounts payable experience who can work independently, manage competing priorities, and recognize issues before they become larger problems.
We are not seeking a junior accounting assistant or someone whose background is primarily limited to invoice entry. We need an experienced professional who understands how accounts payable affects cash management, vendor relationships, internal controls, month-end reporting, and the overall integrity of a company’s financial records.
All applications are reviewed by our hiring team.
Candidates whose qualifications appear aligned with the position will receive an email within one to two business days of applying. The email will include a link to complete a pre-recorded online interview.
The interview will help us assess your accounts payable background, experience supporting Canadian businesses, understanding of GST and HST, technical ability, communication skills, decision-making, and readiness to independently manage senior-level AP responsibilities.
Candidates selected after the recorded interview may be contacted regarding the next stage of the hiring process.
You are methodical, dependable, and comfortable taking responsibility for sensitive financial information.
You do not process invoices without understanding what you are reviewing. You verify documentation, question inconsistencies, investigate unusual activity, and make sure the correct approvals are in place before payments move forward.
You can manage a significant workload while remaining accurate and organized. When something is missing or incorrect, you take ownership of the issue, communicate clearly, and follow it through to resolution.
You understand that strong accounts payable work requires more than speed. It requires judgment, accountability, proper documentation, effective controls, and careful management of company funds.
Success in this position means:
Invoices are reviewed, coded, and processed accurately within required timelines
Vendor accounts remain current, organized, and reconciled
Expenses are recorded against the correct entities, accounts, departments, and tax codes
Payment batches are accurate, properly supported, and ready for approval
Duplicate, incorrect, unsupported, or unauthorized payments are identified before funds are released
Vendor questions and account discrepancies are handled professionally
Outstanding issues are documented and followed through to completion
Month‑end accounts payable information is accurate and delivered on time
Financial records are complete, organized, and ready for review
Management has reliable visibility into outstanding balances and upcoming payment obligations
The annual compensation range for this position is:
C$21,600–C$25,200
Final compensation will be based on the candidate’s depth of accounts payable experience, previous work with Canadian companies, understanding of Canadian tax coding, accounting‑system knowledge, industry background, communication ability, and capacity to independently manage the full accounts payable process.
