Job summary

GoLean Health is seeking a Virtual Medical Assistant to support a US ophthalmology practice from remote locations. You will handle front desk communication, scheduling workflows, patient requests, and insurance support, in a patient-facing capacity for a part-time role.

The ideal candidate has 1+ year of US healthcare administration, excellent English, and the ability to work Eastern Time hours. Proficiency with Practice Plus/Nextech, Reach UC, and Teams is preferred.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of U.S. healthcare administrative experience in a patient-facing role.
• Experience handling patient phone calls, appointment scheduling, and voicemail follow-up.
• Experience verifying insurance benefits, copays, deductibles, or patient responsibility.
• Strong spoken and written English communication skills.
• Professional, warm, and confident phone presence.
• Ability to follow protocols and escalate concerns appropriately.

Responsibilities

• Answer inbound patient calls and return missed calls or voicemails promptly.
• Gather accurate patient information and determine next actions.
• Escalate urgent concerns while maintaining a courteous phone presence.
• Create to-do tasks in Practice Plus / Nextech for refills and follow-ups.
• Route messages to physicians or staff and monitor pending requests.
• Assist with triage-based scheduling and appointment coordination.
