Job summary

BizForce is seeking an Ophthalmology Front Desk / Patient Access Specialist to support a fast-paced US ophthalmology practice. You will handle inbound calls, scheduling, insurance verification, and patient registration while maintaining a patient-centric experience.

The ideal candidate has ophthalmology and ModMed Practice Management experience, comfortable in a high-volume environment, and able to work US hours remotely.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in medical front desk or patient access.
• Prior ophthalmology experience required.
• Experience with ModMed Practice Management and EMA.
• Experience supporting a US-based practice remotely.
• Able to work US hours and pass background check.

Responsibilities

• Handle a high volume of inbound patient calls professionally and efficiently.
• Assist patients with appointments, scheduling inquiries, and general admin concerns.
• Identify appropriate appointment type based on visit reason.
• Refer complex issues to the appropriate team.
• Deliver a professional, patient-focused experience in every interaction.
• Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments using ModMed Practice Management.
• Coordinate appointments requiring diagnostic testing and documentation in the system.
• Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits before appointments.
• Maintain accurate patient demographics and registration details.
• Assist with patient portals, pre-visit requirements, and front office support.
• Know ophthalmology workflows: exams, cataract, glaucoma, retina, OCT, etc.
