Job summary

Go Lean Health is seeking a Remote Virtual Medical Assistant to support a Neurology facility with insurance verification, disability and ADA documentation, FMLA forms, and medical records requests. You will handle patient communications and general admin duties while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, experienced with EHR/EMR systems, and capable of handling sensitive information with professionalism.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Virtual Medical Assistant or healthcare support role.
• Experience verifying insurance eligibility and benefits.
• Familiarity with disability/ADA accommodation requests and FMLA forms.
• Experience using electronic health record (EHR/EMR) systems.
• Strong telephone communication and patient service skills.
• Ability to document encounters accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple requests.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while following procedures.
• Reliable internet and quiet workspace.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient insurance eligibility, coverage, benefits, and financial responsibility.
• Document verification results in the patient’s electronic health record.
• Receive and organize disability- and ADA-related requests, route to the appropriate provider.
• Track deadlines and securely return completed FMLA forms.
• Receive and review medical records requests and release records per procedures.
• Respond to patient questions and document messages; create encounters.
• Create and update EHR encounters and upload forms to patient charts.
• Monitor work queues and assist with scheduling, data entry, and admin tasks.
