Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field.

Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate potential suppliers and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and quality standards.
• Prepare and issue purchase orders with accurate specifications, quantities and delivery timelines.
• Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to achieve optimal costs whilst maintaining quality.
• Manage supplier relationships and communicate procurement requirements, schedules and performance expectations.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production teams to forecast procurement needs.
• Liaise with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure timely receipt and proper storage of materials.
• Reporting on procurement activities, cost savings and supplier performance metrics to management.

About the role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Purchasing Officer to join our procurement team at our facility in Caloocan City, Metro Manila. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in optimising our supply chain operations and ensuring the seamless procurement of materials and services essential to our steel manufacturing operations. As Purchasing Officer, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing supplier relationships whilst maintaining cost-effectiveness and quality standards. This role is integral to our operational success and directly supports our manufacturing objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Identifying and evaluating potential suppliers and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and quality standards
• Preparing and issuing purchase orders, ensuring accurate specifications, quantities and delivery timelines
• Negotiating contracts and terms with suppliers to achieve optimal costs whilst maintaining quality
• Managing supplier relationships and communicating procurement requirements, schedules and performance expectations
• Monitoring inventory levels and coordinating with production teams to forecast procurement needs
• Conducting market research to identify new suppliers and cost-saving opportunities
• Processing and reconciling invoices with purchase orders and delivery documentation
• Maintaining accurate records of purchases, supplier information and procurement documentation
• Liaising with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure timely receipt and proper storage of materials
• Reporting on procurement activities, cost savings and supplier performance metrics to management

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role, preferably within manufacturing or steel industries
• Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management and inventory control
• Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain positive supplier relationships
• Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office applications
• Outstanding organisational and time management abilities with capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in both written and verbal forms
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including production, logistics and finance
• Knowledge of steel manufacturing processes and materials is highly desirable
• Professional certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g. APICS, ICCPM) is preferred
