Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Engineering; MBA preferred.
• 8-10 years progressive management experience; 3-5 years in BU/general mgmt.
• Proven track record in leading P&L in manufacturing/industrial environments.
• Strong understanding of steel manufacturing processes and supply chain.

About the role

LEC Steel Manufacturing Corp. is seeking a Business Unit Manager to lead and drive the strategic direction of one of our key business units. This is a full-time position based in Metro Manila, offering an exciting opportunity to oversee operations, financial performance, and team development within our growing steel manufacturing division.

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for translating corporate strategy into actionable business objectives, managing P&L performance, and ensuring operational excellence across your assigned business unit. You will work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to achieve ambitious growth targets whilst maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive business strategies and annual operating plans aligned with corporate objectives


• Manage and optimise the financial performance of the business unit, including revenue growth, cost management, and profitability targets


• Oversee all operational activities, including production planning, supply chain management, quality control, and customer satisfaction initiatives


• Build and lead a high-performing team, providing mentorship, coaching, and performance management to direct reports and supporting staff


• Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress against strategic and operational goals


• Identify and implement process improvements and operational efficiencies to enhance productivity and reduce costs


• Manage customer relationships and drive revenue growth through market expansion and customer retention strategies


• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, safety standards, and company policies within the business unit


• Provide regular reporting and updates to senior management on business unit performance, risks, and opportunities


• Collaborate with other departments such as sales, marketing, finance, and human resources to support overall company objectives

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or advanced qualification is preferred


• Minimum 8-10 years of progressive management experience, with at least 3-5 years in a business unit or general management role


• Proven track record of successfully leading and managing P&L performance in a manufacturing or industrial environment


• Strong understanding of steel manufacturing processes, supply chain management, and industry-specific operational challenges


• Excellent strategic thinking and business planning capabilities, with the ability to translate strategy into actionable plans


• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to build, motivate, and develop high-performing teams


• Strong financial acumen and experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the organisation


• Results-oriented mindset with a proven ability to drive performance improvements and achieve ambitious targets


• Knowledge of safety regulations, quality management systems (ISO certifications), and lean manufacturing principles


• Experience in a similar manufacturing or heavy industry environment is highly desirable
